I wouldn't do anything to the sister-in-law. The brother made the choice to disown his family. He chose who he wanted to be around more; for whatever reason the choice was made; she didn't make it, he did. But it's easier to blame the sister-in-law, than to place the blame where it really should be; on your brother.

first, I think you are looking at it from the wrong perpective; you can't blame your sister in law if your brother chose to go with her instead of his family, no one can make your brother do something that he didn't want to do; however what could have happened that made it come down to choosing between his wife or family? there is no way that he should have had to make that kind of choice. If things were so bad with the wife and the family out of respect to him then the wife should and the family should have decided to stay away from each other and refuse to talk about each other in his presence. But if you look at from a biblical point of you he did exactly what he should have done the bible says that a man is to leave his parents and take a wife and a woman is to leave her parents and cleve to her husband

It sounds like there is some information missing from this story. Why did she ask him to chose?? Not knowing why, its hard to say whos right or wrong. The bible says when two get married they become one and they must put eachother before everyone else except for God. I dont know if your brother has balls or not, but i dont think that effected his choice. And really what CAN you do to your SIL besides try to talk to them and see how the situation can be mended??

Don't blame the Sister-in-Law. The ballless brother made the decision. Blaming the sister in law would be like blaming your workplace for you having a crappy job. He could find a better one if he REALLY wanted to.
