Everything was fine for about 6 months then intermittantly I had problems. The bulbs were replaced and still cannot figure it out. The wiring harness to the trailer is intact too. Thanks for your help

Very strange. Some things are just plain bizarre and in those cases it often comes down to one of the following.
1.A blown fuse
2.The wrong type of bulb has been installed somewhere
3.Bad ground (somewhere)

Before you start looking for the problem, check all the electrical circuits for proper operation, ie turns signals, running/marker lights, dome lights, fans, brake lights, etc. Make sure you get out and look at the various lights to verify ALL lights are operating properly.

If you find you have more than one malfunction, determine what those two circuits have in common and start there. Otherwise, start with the easiest; check ALL the fuses and go from there.

does it do it only when you have your trailer on the truck? if so you are not getting a good ground thru the trailer ball and need a ground hooked up in your wiring harness to solve if it's not already there. if it does it with out the trailer hooked up it's a bad ground on the trucks brake lights.

Your brake lights are using the only other gounding source they can find. (your turn signals)

There is a ground wire from the lights to the body of your car that has come loose, or broken.

most likely the trailer converter is bad, losing ground through it.can happen when a trailer with wiring issues is hooked up.it is behind a tail light or under the cubby, behind or below driver seat.

try checking your fuses. i had almost the same problem on my truck and it turned out to be the turn signal fuse.
