I'm watching a documentary about Britain's fattest man, he is so fat he can't work but he goes to a greasy cafe every morning and eats 2 or 3 massive fry ups, then eats like that continually throughout the day. I don't understand how he can afford to!! He gets no money from working and benefits don't pay out that much...

One data point for you:

unheathly food is often cheaper than healthy good. You can eat a whole meal at McDonalds, Burger King, etc much cheaper than buying and cooking a nutritional meal yourself. Pretty sad isnt' it.

it's not just about the caloric intake. once the body gets into fat storage mode the resting metabolic rate slows severely. it is easier to continually get fatter and fatter once the body gets to this point.

when a person gets to have 40-60% body fat and higher there is so little biologically active muscle tissue the body burns very little calories. everything they eat gets stored as fat.

Government cheese? Inherited money? The cheapest food is really bad for you too, especially fast food. And you can get food in bulk by either going to buffett lines or those stores like Sam's Club and Costco. It is really easy to get fat but damn have a little self control. Nobody wants to see fat slobs walking all over the place.

The same reason homeless people can afford alcohol and not food. Its the same reason heroin addicts will go without a place to sleep so they can get a high. It's an addiction. Fat people are addicted to food. I would know because I was one. Their lives revolve around what and when they are going to eat next.

well, you see, people who aren't fat care about what they look like..they get nice haircuts, get their hair dyed, get eyebrows done, buy nice clothes, go out to eat at nice places, buy gym memberships, get makeup, etc. fat people don't care about anything but food. (well most, not all). Most dont exercise, most dont eat healthy, therefore, they buy greasy cheap food such as McDonalds, therefore all their money goes to FOOD!!!!

I can't help but wonder about the value of your question. People spend whatever money they have on what they consider to be priorities. I hope that answers your question.
