I'm in Iraq now, and you need to understand that everything you hear on the news, and everything you read in a newspaper is not necessarily the truth. I never realized that until I started working in the Middle East. Best of luck to you.

Shorty, I feel I owe you an apology. My first answer was to say the least, a little curt and a little more than slightly rude. My only defense is that I spend a lot of time trying desparately to educate people who either don't believe they are in need or absolutely refuse to look at cold, hard facts and instead choose to go with whatever is blowing in the wind. It gets to be very frustrating.

I spent the first twenty three years of my adult life in the military, working with the Marine Corps and spent most of that living outdoors. I worked my way up the food chain to a point where I was on a number of planning committies. I was also an instrument for several presidents and it was my job to "clean up" little trouble spots. Mogadeshu, Somailia is a classic example . Remember the movie Blackhawk Down? I was called in to fix that problem. It's amazing what an aircraft carrier parked off your coast will do to change your mind about things... 8>)

First, life is not fair. Secondly, we're losing on average 2.8 men a day and when you consider that Gen Patton lost an average of 812 men a day between 08Nov and 07Dec1944, against an easily identifiable, uniformed army as opposed to the terrorists we are currently up against, who hide behind women and children... I think you get the picture.
You see, the problem is, until people come to the realization that the news media is in the business of making money, they will completely miss the fact that they will never tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The news media makes money by targetting a specific audience and then tailoring the news to give them what they want to hear. To really try and get a clear picture, you have to check a number of different new services and try and sift through the garbage to arrive at a clear picture. They will scream at you about no WMD being found, but they won't bother to tell you that it was Jimmy Carter back in the 70's who left this country blind and working in the dark when he gutted the CIA. His flawed thinking and foreign policy forced us to beg for and rely upon foreign intel. services to give us the info needed to make good decisions. That's partially why the Army got theirs handed to them in Mogadeshu... Bad intel..
So, my answer to you is a resounding "No. It's not true"

I don't know about that, I can tell you that we are looking towards leaning on Iran more. But the true answer is that those solider's lives are not being lost in vein. No one put a gun to their head to make them sign up. It's not 1969 people have a choice as to whether they wish to go into the military now or not. And it is not like they didn't see it coming, hell we have been over there in Iraq for five years now, it's no big shocker that if you enlist in the Army or Marines your going somewhere else.

i joined the army to fight for my country before 911 even happened. i knew exactly what i was getting into. these stories you here on the news of soliders running away or going awol is because they were to stupid to way the consiquences of there actions. as for more troops. the more you have the better. less troops means less control. we are having a hard time controling certian areas of this country. some are fully under control. so to keep from spreading to thin and loosing ground in other places we need more bodies on the ground to fight off these people. remember. most of the insurgents we face over there are not even from iraq. they come from all over that reagion to fight americans. and even if your a liberal or a conservitive like me they want you dead simply cause your an american. the biggest liberal you could find that bangs his or her anti war drum they would chop off that persons head just as quickly as bush. they dont care. what your political beliefs are. they just want you dead. plain and simple. makes ur stomach turn when u realize the truth of this. you see if these people didnt have soliders to plan attacks on they would be planning one for here. our soliders are holding back the flood waters. i served. and i will again. and again. its the only way to make a true diference.

Bush wants to have another war with the entire Middle Eastern area so that he can take over their oil-rich lands. Of course it won't look like America's taking over, because America will make sure it's unseen in the background pulling all the strings like a puppeteer. Just wait until the draft gets called into force because America keeps losing military forces and no one wants to enroll because of the danger. Then we will really start seeing loss of life.

UNTIL YOU ARE here to see what is going on----wise not to say a word. I do not support Bush however if wee pull out now ALL HELL will break loose. It is worse now than it was 3 yrs ago. We definitely could use atleast 70,000 more troops at a minimum. I have been in Iraq for 3yrs. some places are alot worse than others.-------------none of it is good.

"another war"? You truly have no Idea what your talking about.

The USA currently has 450,000+ troops deployed in 140+ countries.....
Including countries/Wars
Japan & Germany (WWII)
Korea (Korean War)
Kuwait & Sudi Arabia (Gulf I)
Multiple Eurpean Countries (Bosnian War)

So to talk about a "extensive police action" is a little preposterous...
And people are "squawking" about bolstering the Ground force in Iraq by 20,000

I think Bush is on coke still. I think he actually believes that he speaks to God...scary. Bush is a lunatic! I think what you heard is that Bush wants to send more troops.

This excuse for a war has already done so much damage and it will get worse before it gets better. Shouldn't have been there to begin with...but to abandon it now could be devastating. What a tragedy. Of course those who suffer are the courageous soldiers, their families, the Iraqi people...while Mr. Bush is out playing golf.

My question is this:
Was there really a declared war? If so, had it ended before now?

Seriously, the Police Action in Iraq has gone on for too long. It is a "war" we will not win unless we slam and conquer. But that would mean we are tyrants and bent on world domination. And this would mean we would have to answer for our own crimes.

Ironic, huh?

Its not fair you went to school and didn't listen to your teachers.

There is only one war in Iraq.

Only about 2% of soldiers in Iraq have lost their lives, which is A LOT better than most wars we have been a part of. They are doing their job and we love them for it.
