My fiance and I are thinking about going on a cruise for our honeymoon in May. Any ideas on a nice cruise for two, preferably under $1,000 for the both of us?

Honey, go to carnival they are real reasonable, and tell them what state you live in and you get a tax reduction if many people went on a carnival Cruise in that sate. They are magnificent.

Carnival goes to the Caribbean. The Carnival Valor leaves from Miami, Florida, and stops at the ports in Nassau, Bahamas / St Thomas, USVI and St Maarten, NA. Its a week cruise and the Valor is only 3 years old so its in really good shape.
I just checked a website www.vacationstogo.com and Carnival Triumph, Valor, Victory and Glory all go to the eastern Caribbean. The prices in the month of may for these cruises range from $529-699, for an interior room per person. I don't think you will find a cruise for 2 of you under $1000.
Then there are also cruises that go in Western and Southern Caribbeam, but you can find those and the prices on www.vacationstogo.com

More about the cruise i took, the valor. It leaves on May 6,13,20 and 27. Price rising towards the end of May.

Try the website www.vacationstogo.com there are some really good deals.

Have fun on whatever cruise you decided to choose!

Carnival is definitely the most budget friendly cruise line.

Check out www.vacationstogo.com for last minute deals leaving from ports near you.

Warning about the "hidden" costs about cruising. There are port taxes and fees, parking fees at the ports, port tips and most importantly, understand that tipping the service staff on the ship is not really "optional". Carnival will add this fee to your bill the moment you board. $10/per day/per person.

To keep your costs down, check out arranging your own excursions instead of booking through Carnival. Many times, you can get off in a port and hook up with tour operators at the dock. That will save a ton of money.

Warning about the cost of bar drinks...$4-12 bucks a drink. We are tea totalers so we buy the fountain drinks cards. $30 for all of the soda you can drink.

May is a good month because most of the kids are not yet out of school. Avoid July-Nov due to hurricane season.

I did a 5 day Carnival cruise to the Caribbean last year... Lots of fun, GREAT crew onboard... Had an outside room for about $1000.00 for the two of us... May is going to be a little more expensive, though...

Just did 2 Carnival cruises this month. Very different experiences so it depends upon the ship. There is definitely a big difference, especially with the food and the activities and amenities. If I had a choice, I would definitely go with Royal.

CARNIVAL IMAGINATION!!!

i was just on this cruise for Christmas, and let me tell you...i had the BEST time.
it was for 5 days, and we sailed from Miami to Ochos Rios, Jamaica, and Grand Turk. We were originally supposed to go to Grand Cayman, but the islands were closed for Christmas or something.
But it was and AMAZING trip. The food was incredible. For breakfast and lunch you can either go to the buffet or to the seated dining halls and for dinner you go to the seated dining halls at a given time every night. and the best part is for dinner you can request basically ANYTHING you want, but you have to tell your waiter in advance. you can always fall back on the 24 hour pizzeria or ice cream! the buffet dining area is always open.

the cabin isn't too shabby either. it wasn't as small as i was expecting, the window was a decent good size aswell

basically i say go for CARNIVAL IMAGINATION!!!

the crew was amazing as well, everyone is soooooo nice

Try this site:

iBtraveling.com

This is where I book my travel plans becuase you can compare so many different deals. Just search for a cruise with each company, keep that window open, and then go onto your next search...eventually you'll find something you'll like for the best price.

Have fun cruis'n and best wishes too!

If I were you, I wouldn't do a cruise for a honeymoon. They're very crowded and you won't get any privacy unless you sit in your stateroom all day.

You'd be better off going to Jamaica for a few days. It's pretty cheap to travel there and the exchange rate from U.S. dollar to Jamaican dollar is wonderful. They have several all-inclusive resorts that are very reasonably priced. Check http://www.travelocity.com for rates.
