seriously, I can't stop. I'm not the type to go to A.A. What else can I do?

Obviously, try to stay away from situations that involve alcohol. What is your home situation like? If you are with someone, do they drink as much? If so, you both need to smarten the hell up. If you don’t, one of you will get sick and then you’ll both regret that you did not stop sooner. Try just cutting back to a few nights a week, then a couple, then one. Once a week won’t kill you, unless you drink a 40 of whisky to yourself. Good luck, seriously.

If you dont like the idea of AA, try one on one Counselling. You can usually get free caouncelling (in Australia anyway) from most Community Centres and Organisations.
I am not religious, but you may also like to chat to your local church. It seems like you are ready to quit, so Hypnosis also is a great option.. My husband did this for smoking and it worked!

Good luck with everything, and remember, the best thing you can do is talk! To friends, family or a complete stranger. It is all good therapy :)

AA is a good start that you way you are able to be around ppl who can actually relate to the problem. Also avoid situations that trigger you to want a drink and i know that may be hard because for some ppl that can be work or the home environment but you should definately surrround yourself with ppl who are willing to be supposrtive of your recovery from this problem.

Initially you have to get past the withdrawal. The first day without is your first step. At least call someone for help and get guidance. AA offers support but you need to get past the first night. Pick up the phone and ask people that have been there.

Your JUST the type to go to AA. Your sick and you need help. I've been been in AA for 10 months and it's saved my life. I couldn't stop drinking or using so I went to rehab to help me. Go to a hospital or counselling too.
