It doesn't even matter which side of the war you're on.
A Yellow Ribbon simply signifies that we support out troups in Iraq and elsewhere.
How wonderful would it be for everyone to actually display their support?
The troops would hear about it for sure, and anything that lets them know people are thinking of them will help them cope.
I know because my son is in Iraq right now.
So why so few yellow ribbons? Just curious.

I have my military flag, my yellow ribbon magnet and American flag. I too am disappointed in the lack of support. It wouldn't take much and ribbons aren't expensive. Maybe for the 4th of July we should all take ribbons and hand them out on the street.

Ribbons do not do a thing. How come are not American demanding that all troops going to Iraq have body Armour and their vehicle are amour plated. When the people found out they were upset because the soldiers complaint. How come nothing is being done to provide the troops what they need. Because no one really cares.
Only thing thing the ribbons show is a support for bush.
If you support the troop then you would support the draft it not fair that a few people should shoulder the burden of freedom.
Our troop sacrifice a lot for our country and the only thing people can thing of is a dam yellow ribbon. How about a scholarship for any vet serving that they could use or give to one of there children. How some help with the debt these people get by serving there country.
Giving the vet priority when applying for all job not just for the government.
As a vet a yellow ribbons seems to be shallow, just like waving banner while your team is winning and put it away when they lose.
I show my support every night when I pray for our troops
I am not attacking you, because as a parent of a servicemen you care. But I learned in the military those are the only people who care about you. Your family.
God Bless

As I read this I literally started to become choked up…some of these people are right…and some are very wrong …its not the government, or the president who has abandoned the troops…it is the people of the united states of America…the people who are more than happy to say that they support the troops, but will turn down a job to a guard member…it is the people who keep electing politicians who won’t let the soldiers fight to win…it is the people who elected a Muslim congressman…it is the Veterans administration using affirmative action to hire Iraq immigrants who demand to wear their traditional Muslim clothing while working in VA hospitals…It is colleges and universities “loosing” financial aid paperwork causing veterans to have to withdrawal from classes…it’s the incompetent military commanders who ascended under Klintons police state military who are afraid/don’t know how to fight…It’s the people who “support the war” and “support the troops” but hate the thought of a draft where there son might have to go fight because they think their child is better than that…it’s the greedy businesses and government contracting agencies who are saying they need to uparmor hummers when they have thousands of M113s sitting in war stocks that would be better suited to the fight anyway…corrupt, fat, greedy, unpatriotic, spoiled, dishonest politicians don’t come from some magic republican/democrat/independent political university…they come from the American people…the corrupt, fat, greedy, unpatriotic, spoiled, dishonest American people…I served in Iraq and Afghanistan in the regular army…and this time next year I will be going back for the national guard…I am putting off going to medical school until my deployments are finished so that I will always be able to say that I served my country…that is what I can do rather than put up a yellow ribbon…because if I and the other military members don’t do it now, they my baby nephew or my son will be back over there the next time we have a middle eastern war because we didn’t finish it this time…

I have a blue service star flag instead.

The yellow ribbon has become the domain of those people who state the lie: "I support the troops but oppose the war." (You cannot 'support' somebody if you oppose what he is trying to do.)

I suggest that you put up our own blue star instead - the people who really do support the troops will know what it means.

You want to do something that shows how you are behind our troops? Check out this web site. It costs nothing to join, no dues, no meetings. All it costs is some of your time. You don't have to be a vet or a biker. You just have to be willing to stand for those who have stood for us. Read the history of the Patriot Guard, and do a research on those hateful peopel behind the reason the Guard has come about (WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH).

Obama keeps taking credit for democracy in Iraq. He opposed the war and now he takes credit for it coming to its conclusion using the Bush timeline. I think Liberals should tie a yellow (strong nylon) ribbon around their necks and find a sturdy branch to complete the task.

What a great idea! If we tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree, then maybe our troops won't be getting blown into little pieces by IED!

If you support the troops then you will urge congress to bring them home instead of sending 22,500 more to blow up.

because the liberals are trying to turn this country against the war as far as they did in the sixties and seventies. to the point where its the soliders fault to. they feel that those years were there golden years. thats why u dont see anything good on the news about anything positive we do over there. i was there. and i rebuilt schools handed out school supplies. guarded election polls. rebuilt hospitals. i even taught english to some kids that hung around the fort. things like that you dont hear about.
