Take her to the vet! This happened to the dog I had in high school a few years ago. It turned out she had a tumor that was rapidly growing on her spine. She didn't have any lumps, so I wasn't expecting tumors. We had to put her down :(

Take your dog to the vet right away. It could be a spinal injury, or maybe a torn ligament in her legs that you didn't see happen. It could also be the onset of arthritis. Or a dirty butt if the dog is scooting along the floor. Either way go to the vet, she can't tell you where it hurts, so help her best wishes.

Try a fund raiser! A whole neighborhood yard sale would work well. Also ask for donations for her wheelchair. The other option is to give her up to an owner who can pay. But I'm sure you don't want that! Just go out to maybe a grocery store and hand out fliers asking for donations. Your dog really needs that wheelchair!

She may have had a stroke; she may have a pinched nerve in her spine that's cutting off the signals to/from the brain; she may have a dislocation...

You won't know for sure if you don't get your dog to a vet.

Don't delay. If there is brain- or nerve-damage involved, and the dog is not given prompt treatment, the damage may worsen and/or become permanent.

If it is dragging the legs behind, then it's definitely some kind of injury.

If it is "scooting its butt" along the floor, in males, it's likely impacted anal glands (see a vet) in females, it could be a UTI - particularly if the female is doing lots of little dribbles of pee instead of her usual go-out-and-do-it.

In any case, a vet is called for.

My female lab had a similar problem, her rear end was lame. She would eat, so I knew she was not sick. It turns out that she wiggled her back out of place and pinched a nerve. My vet does chiropractic adjustments (my dog loves it) and she was healed after one visit. It is a better and quicker alternative to muscle relaxants.

Sometimes I've seen female dogs drag their butts on the ground if that's what you're talking about. I think it's a cleanliness thing.
