My stomach is acting really messed up. I usually have stomach problems from eating or drinking anything with a milk product in it, but this is a pain I haven't had before. I had a sharp pain in the lower part of my stomach and now there is a tight squeezing pain on my left side, like right under my rib cage. I've read up on ulcers and it really doesn't sound like it could be that. I have had a lot of stressed lately due to the fact that my mom passed away in December and I've been getting in arguments with my boyfriend. I really don't want to go to the doctor if it's something I can treat myself. If only I knew what could be the problem. Any idea?

It could be ulcers- in which case taking time to de-stress is in order- and that includes staying away from your boyfriend. Or it could be a number of other things that again, only a doctor could diagnose.

Now, my husband also has trouble with his stomach. He takes papaya enzyme tablets (available at a local health food store). And it seems to help. And if the trouble REALLY kicks up, he has me make him a cup of Tension Tamer tea, with a dash of powderred ginger, a spoon of sugar, and a spoon of honey. And he swears that helps too. I'm not sure if it's because it relaxes him or because it does in fact help his stomach, but I'll take what I can get.

Good luck!

it could be appendicitis or a bad menstrual cramp

"The main symptom of appendicitis is abdominal pain. The pain is at first diffuse and poorly localized, that is, not confined to one spot. (Poorly localized pain is typical whenever a problem is confined to the small intestine or colon, including the appendix.) The pain is so difficult to pinpoint that when asked to point to the area of the pain, most people indicate the location of the pain with a circular motion of their hand around the central part of their abdomen. A second, common, early symptom of appendicitis is loss of appetite which may progress to nausea and even vomiting. Nausea and vomiting also may occur later due to intestinal obstruction. "

is this you?
if so go to the doctor right away

The pain can also be caused by gall bladder problems. Get it checked out by a doctor right away.

PS: I'm glad you said "right side". You do not want squeezing pains on the left side! That might mean something worse!
