How is it possible if the parents don't look like the relations I listed above?

"There are two types of genes. The two types of genes are dominant and recessive genes. Dominant genes contain the characteristics that are the strongest and recessive genes contain the weaker characteristics. Examples of dominant gene characteristics are brown and black fur and eyes. Examples of recessive gene characteristics are blue eyes and gray or red fur. If one parent passes on a dominant gene, then the offspring will have that dominant color of fur or eyes. For a recessive color to show up in the offspring, both parents must pass on recessive genes for the same fur color. For example, if one parent passes on a gene for brown fur and the other passes on a gene for gray fur, the offspring have the brown fur since it is the dominant gene. The offspring would only have the gray fur if both parents passed on the recessive gene for gray fur."

I think this answer is reffering more to animals, however it still applies to humans. My husband and i both have brown hair and eyes. Our daughter has blonde hair and blue eyes...just like our unlcles and grandfathers and my brother. It happens!

Lots of gene's skip a generation i.e. they do not show up in the parents but the parents still carry them and pass them to their children and they do show up.
