What kind of food is best to bring on airplanes? I will be doing 2 stopovers on an 8 hour flight. I want to bring food thats most comfortable, wont smell to other passengers, and is easy to carry. Any ideas?

As a retired airline pilot away from good food for days at a time, I used to carry almonds...lotsa of'm.

When the protein and snack bars came out years ago, I started to carry them as well.

If you're just going for a stop over or two, sandwiches are great.

I would tell you to bring a liter or more of water, but unfortunately, unless one's in uniform (as a pilot or stewardess), one cannot bring liquid through the check point. So, be sure to ring that call button as often is you like and keep hydrated.

The government is chipping away at our liberty bit by bit, but that's a whole other debate.

Food is alright, just not liquid. I brought a subway sandwich through security, but the confiscated my water bottle. My advice, either A; bring an empty bottle with you, or B; buy one once you get through security. You never want to drink plain water from an airplane, or drink brewed Coffee or tea. The tanks on the plane that store the drinking water are never cleaned. Only drink stuff from a water bottle you SEE flight attendants poring from, or a can.

bring a little lunch bag and fill it up with Nabisco 100 calories packs. There not to messy and come in little packs so you wont eat to much out of boredom. Also bring gum, your ears are likely to hurt a little going up and down make it easy on yourself and only bring drinks that can be resealed so you reduce the risk of spilling

Just don't bring any hard-boiled eggs or anything fishy and you should be fine. Ideas could be nuts, crackers, cookies, snack bars, etc. If you are going to Europe they might be feeding you a couple of times but if if is within the USA you might not get the same treatment.

If your looking for a quick sandwich idea, I would choose salami, with mustard, not mayo, it would be unrefrigerated to long for mayo. Salami has enough preservatives in it that it won't spoil.
Also - Have you considered the snack packs in the deli section of the grocery store? They have drinks, meat, cheese and some have little desserts. They can be kept in an insulated bag and still be very fresh for that length of time. I wouldn't take anything overly salty, it will cause you to drink more, which means more time in the airplane potty. I for one, am not a fan of those. Happy travels.
