As long as you don't do it every day and toast your skin from the heat.

Certainly consider the cautions Restless recommended in her reply, and I agree with 95%.

The incomplete list of primary reasons for using a steam room are:

1. Soothe sore muscles and promote circulation
2. Relieve sinus or other respiratory congestion if okayed by your doctor
3. General feel-good-all-over feeling
4. A cool-down relaxation break after a hard workout

In very warm climates, the increase in core body temperature resulting from a steam room session can be helpful in making your body feel cool all day.

Sitting in a steam room MIGHT be healthy in certain situations, but I disagree that it "helps release excess sweat" and "helps reduce excess fluids in the tissue which results in minute * weight loss".

Sure, if you sweat you will have some weight loss, but that will be replaced as soon as you rehydrate with a bottle of water. In fact, I don't think a person sweats all that much - the moisture from the steam just condenses on the skin, that's all; but there is some sweat.

Sweating is the body's cooling mechanism at work. It's not meant to eliminate excess fluids. Excess fluids are eliminated through the bladder in the form of urine.

As long as you don't have high blood pressure, or circulatory issues, or asthma, sitting in a steam room is quite healthy. It opens the pores and helps release excess sweat, which help clear the pores. It's good for the skin, and helps reduce excess fluids in the tissue, which results in minute *and I stress ... MINUTE* weight loss.
