Both my boyfriend of four months and I are "feeling the pinch" financially these days, so I'm looking for fun, inexpensive date ideas. All suggestions are much appreciated!

Well it depends on what you are into...maybe you could check out a local museum..that's fairly inexpensive. In some cities like los angeles, museums are free after 5pm. You could rent a movie and grab some munchies from the store and have a night in. If you like to dance, you could get nice and sexy and dance to some jams with your man in the privacy of your home. Drink and play cards or board games. Really you just have to use your imagination...what do you and your boyfriend like to do together? Do that and spend within your limit.

Museums are always great, as are public gardens, arboretums, winter gardens, etc. Going for a nice drive (or bike ride) is awesome, as are 'open mike' nights at coffee houses.

I used to make a 'night out' of visiting bookstores, music stores, etc, and sharing new or favorite material at both.

Another great one is a photography date. Go to a nice public park and take photos of nature, architecture, and each other. Have people snap photos of you two together.

Offer to take a friend's dog to the local dog park - The friend and the dog will both thank you, and it's always fun to do...especially if you've never done so before (just make sure the dog is 'social' with other dogs, of course).

Good Luck!

Check out things in your area that you can do for free. For example, in Boston the Museum of Fine Arts is open every Wednesday night with no charge for admission. It's sponsored by a bank or something.

Have a romantic dinner at home that you both cook together and eat "picnic" style on the floor.. (Not sure if it's warm where you are.)

If you two enjoy the outdoors--depending on where you live--hiking, boating, and other outdoor activities that require no expense but energy can provide quality time without monetary sacrifice. A movie once in a while can also be well worth the money if the movie provides conversation and joy.

Parks, coffe shops, beach, driving around. When I used to have a boyfriend, we would drive somewhere out of town (sometimes places we've never been) and act like we were tourists on Vacation just enjoying the scenery and new places to see.

Renting movies, checking out the coupons in the phone book for money off of food, grab a twelve pack or a bottle of wine... sounds like a great night to me.

It all depends where you live - everywhere has things that are free to do. For example, the tour of the Jack Daniels facility is pretty cool - and totally free. Just do some research.

walking on the beach, try to get tickets to a funny tv show if there is a studio in the area, hanging out at a bookstore and listenign to a house band. just think about what you like to do and then see if you can do it for cheap or free.

I always liked little roadtrips to stateparks.. you can usually find a state park within 20 -30 miles of any major metro. $5 in gas and pack a cheap lunch.
