My goal by this summer is to try and be able to run about 3 miles 3 times a week. I've been training for it at the gym (threadmill since I live in a snowy area). Been doing this for a month now. I started by walking and then increasing my speed and time. So now I am able to run 5miles/hour for 8 minutes and a 2 minute walking interval.
Yesterday I ran 15 minutes straight and could still go..sooo

My problem is for some reason I am able to run a straight mile some days and on some days it kills me to pull the same thing. My legs muscles would start tightning and give me a burning sensation on my shins.

Why is that? Could it be fatigue? My diet? Do you think may be I was more stressed yesterday so I was able to run better to let stress out? Was it the music in my mp3?

That happens to me, too. Some days im able to run and run and run (forrest gump) ((I too, run on the treadmill)).
Other days I just can't. My knee's hurt, my shin hurts, my endurance is low, etc. On the days that I feel I can't, I just simply do it. I run. I keep running. I dont even give myself the option of quitting. I dont know why it happens, it could be a lot of things, though - your immune system (you may be getting a cold), your breathing (were you around smoke or air pollution more so) any medications, your sleep for that night, etc.
