My boyfriend got a fancy cat with a pedigree etc for his birthday just before christmas. I never see him these days and when we talk, all he speaks about is this bloody cat. He takes it everywhere with him and it's all he thinks about. Our relationship is honestly suffering because of it as he spends all his time with the damn thing - i've seen him once in the last month. I know this sounds silly but it's true, i'm getting fed up with it. What should i do? All i hear is cat, cat, cat.................

No its not silly, this is exactly how my other half was before we got married and he got the cat and he's the same way now. Trust me there is nothing you can do about it except hope the thing gets run over (hahahaha only joking).

You can try talking to him about it, but he will think that its slightly amusing that you are getting jealous of a cat, but you should tell him that you think that the cat is taking over his life an he needs to start paying you some attention. Other than that you might have to get to know the cat and you never know you might find that you like it, but if you are anything like me you will find that you don't!

No but on a serious note talk to him about it and tell him that your relationships needs attention or he will find himself alone with only a cat for company

Do you think he's doing the cat? Just kidding, That was mean.

You know, it might not be such a bad thing. Someone once told me to pay attention to how people treat their pets and you will get a good indication of how they will treat their future partners.

If that hold true, if your relationship progresses with your BF, he may just put you on a pedestal and give you a lot of attention. If the guy is worth it, ride with it a little bit and see what happens.

Does he call the cat his daughter yet? I am a step-mother to my boyfriends dog... but before going out with him I had to pass the dog test, if the dog liked me then so will he... so remember to be nice to the cat! I love the little dog but my boyfriend goes around carrying her and putting her in a little jacket in the winter and calling her his little girlie (Oh my God that makes him sound so gay!) Don't worry, he'll get bored, just make sure you give them daddy-daughter time once in a while - and never laugh at them when they are in the room, save it till later!

instead of trying to talk to him on the phone... go over and spend time with his cat too. if he really loves his cat then he'll love you for loving his cat too. get what i mean? his cat is a new thing, he probably excited about it and since your not interest then he probably feels he cant connect with you anymore coz you just dont understand or whatever. i think what you need to do is hang out with him and his cat.

Tell him that you are tired of hearing about the cat. Tell him that one day he will have to choose the cat or you. If he chooses the cat then he is not worth knowing anyway. Good Luck!

Get him away from the cat to talk to you. He's transferring his feelings to the cat for some reason. You need to know why.

dont chase him let him chase you.
give him space once he realises your not there the cat will subside.
Dont be rude or anything about it if he rings and is like where you been, just say your been busy dont mention the cat cause he will just get his back up about it.
Or you could go out and organise a great night out away from the cat and go back to your place and remind him of what you can do and the cat cant!
good luck

Dress up in a sexy kitty outfit with ears and a tail... Ask which he'd prefer. If its still the cat then go find someone else to wear the outfit for ;o)

I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon, hon, the cat is just his new toy. I understand your frustration, though - have you pointed out that you've only seen him once in the last month?!

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question, by the way. x

First of all, you are not really dating a man.

Harsh yes, but how many MEN do you know that own cats? Men own DOGS.

I wish I was kidding. Is he gay? I'm really not trying to be a jerk. I just feel that cats are decidedly feminine.
