Roasted meat is usually a good bet, because most people like it, and you can usually get lean cuts that don't violate diets. It seems like this time of year, everyone is on a diet!! Chicken or pork roasts tend to be cheaper than red meat, and most grocery stores put cooking instructions on the labels. Serve with salad, pretty easy to concoct and you have so many ingredients that can be used, and steamed veggies. If you feel comfortable that they aren't on South Beach or carb-free, some nice rolls and butter round out a company meal quite nicely. If you are going to serve it, BUY dessert, don't bother with the stress of trying to prepare that unless you have a make ahead dessert and like to cook. Sometimes something as simple as sorbet, or fruit salad is a good sweet. Hopefully this helps...

find out from your boy friend what type of food that his parents like. then go from there. try to keep it simple but nice (preparing a over the top meal may call for you to spend more time away form them getting things ready and serving, when you can use that time to communicate
