I am a Muslim, ask me questions about Islam. I will tell you about anything you want to know. In the same way I ask others about their religion for knowledge but not to degrade them. I am confident about my religion therefore I can answer anything.

It seems to me that some people do not have enough to support their beliefs and thus just slur and attack other peoples ideologies without any knowledge or information. I know some Muslims do the same thing and I know that they do it because of lack of knowledge and disregard for the teachings of Islam.

Leviathan many of those who are using bad behaviour are Atheist ... I meant to include all ideologies in the question.

If anyone believes to have all knowledge then what is he/she doing in th Q&A. To impart thier know by being rude to others beliefs ??? That's not the way .. debate or atleast explain your view point and not just put in rude expressions

M - I agree with you. It shows poor judgment and lack of strong faith in our own beliefs to put down what others believe. At least one could make a sincere attempt at understanding the beliefs of others before making comments about them. cal

People want to be right and people want to be the best. And they are too afraid to look at anything else for fear that they might realize they are walking down the wrong path.

I get where you are coming from. I just answered a Catholic question, a serious question, that my 7yr old could have answered. The sad thing is that I know it was not a 7yr old on the other side typing the question.

On the individual, every day life level, if your religion is full of love then it is a projection of god. I your religion is full of hate then it is just a projection of yourself and not a religion at all.
People love to worship themselves.

I think Sincraft forgot his medication today!! But he is the kind of person we are talking about here isn't he?

Have you ever considered that maybe we are informed about peoples religion and that is what makes us against them. I'm not singling out Islam here, but really I think I do know quite a lot about many of the world's religions included some that no longer exist.

Edit:

If anyone DOES believe they have all knowledge as you say then surely they should be on here answering all the questions....no?

I guess people are just really afraid that their religion isn't the right one, and then they just don't wanna know more about others, because they could find out the truth and realize that what they believed until there wasn't right or true, so it's easier to degrade others who don't believe the same thing they do!

I agree with you with respect to searching for knowledge. Thats why we have an educational system.

Unfortunately we live in a world where reasonable religious people do nothing to stop the fanatics. Until that happens the fanatics will dictate the debate, not the moderates.

I agree. I'm a Christian and while I don't share the same faith as you, I certainly respect your right to have different beliefs. Also, I don't think that learning about another religion threatens my own faith. It sounds like you feel the same way. I impart those beliefs on my children. I let them know that when we are in someone else's place of worship (be it another Christian church, a mosque, synagogue, etc) we are to treat it with reverence. I don't believe Christ would have me do anything different.

I agree. I'll admit, I don't know much about Islam. But I know a Muslim girl at my job and she has always treated me with respect, even after I told her I practice Witchcraft. She's very nice, and no Muslim has ever made a personal attack on me, so I have nothing against the religion.

Many of us already gained real knowledge. That's why we're atheists.

*Why would I want to know more about Islam, I'd point out that you're kind of assuming we don't know anything but say if I say I worshipped chickens and prayed by going cluck, cluck, cluck - I wouldnt ask you to study my beliefs and call you ignorant for not bowing down to me on all questions of chicken spirituality - the truth is you theists have nothing to offer but ignorance and bronze age myths - oh excuse me, Mohammed's mythical fables are more recent.

I find it difficult to act like I care about the opinions of people who need psychological crutches and who are ignorant to believe in such utter drivel.*

Why degrade religions? OK I'll tell you - because 'ridicule is the only weapon that can be used against unintelligible positions - ideas must be distinct before reason can act on them' - Thomas Jefferson.

Sir/Maam, I know very little about your religion as I am a Christian raised in the U.S.. I suspect, like yourself, that many people hate and ridicule what they don't understand. This is unfortunate, for it accounts for much of the world's problems. Without listening, you only hear yourself speak.
Maybe, we all need to listen and learn from each other more.

Just like I told someone else earlier, it takes TIME to research and an open-mind, intelligence and so forth... something a lot of people in today's rush-rush world aren't interested in. People believe what's most important is what's affecting THEM right at the moment, and their materialistic needs. Until something gets in the way of that, they generally keep their heads in the proverbial "sand".

It took me YEARS to research Islam from every angle, Sunni, Shiite, "liberal" and "conservative" views and women's takes on it inside and out. I research Catholic and Christian challenges to it and Islamic challenges to THEM... it's not something that happens overnight. You have to want to know and have an open mind and patience and interest.
