Each state sets their own child care regulations. In the state I live in, Michigan, it is illegal to watch unrelated children in your home on a regular basis without being licensed. Some people do run unlicensed child cares in their homes. However, if there is an incident and you are not licensed, there can be ramifications and you will not have the benefit of the support of the Department of Human Services with legal issues. In addition, it is beneficial to you to report your income to the IRS so that you can benefit from social security. Building up a client base can take several months so you may not find 3-4 children to watch right away. If you are licensed you will have access to the many child care referral services available who help match up licensed homes and centers with families looking for child care. Being a child care provider is hard work, places wear and tear on your home, and can be stressful dealing with parents who don't pick their kids up on time or pay promptly. I have been a licensed child care provider in my home for 20 years. I love my work. I was a stay-at-home mom for 6 years before that. I loved that, too. There are many resources available on how to live successfully on one income if that is what you would like to do. If you would like to become a child care provider, I suggest you go through DHS regardless of your feelings for them.

dont know what dhs, means but you will need to contact your county to see what the regulations are for having a home daycare, I must warn you: you have to meet all the requirements per the county health dept. you can download a list if you google your county/ health dept. It is alot of money but you also have to have lesson plans and educational activities depending on your age group and meal plans that meet the state guidelines. You also have to acquire a license which means some training classes. You will need proper space, bedding, seating, and various other items. It is alot of work, but if you truly enjoy children it can be rewarding. It is not easy money, and should really be thought about. If you are married and your husband has vacation time off and stays home, will the parents be comfprtable with him there, he will not be able to lie on couch and relax because your home will be your business. You will not be able to call in sick because parents are counting on you to be available. If your child is not the sharing type how will he deal, w/ others in his territory? Alot to think about.. this is a big commitment! Also, if you are caught taking care of a child, that is not related to you and being paid for doing so you will face huge financial punishment, it is illegal to do. Even if it is a close friend, and you are being paid for the service.. child must be immediate family member.. so sounds like you will need to deal with DHS. Besides noone in there right mind would hire someone not registered, not with all the sicko's out there.

in my view i might circulate with a daycare midsection for a number of motives. a million. there are extra human beings to computer screen care, 2. extra heavily regulated, 3. predictable schedule, 4. age communities are mutually. purely down area is they many times value extra and that they might have extra suitable than one providor and turn around may be severe so bonding with there care giver will possibly not ensue. With homestead daycare there is not any one else there all day to work out what truly is going on, if the daycare service is ill or has infants that are ill you could desire to have a backup sitter. maximum might have infants of different a while so education won't be an selection. The up area to in homestead newborn care is they are going to easily have one service to bond with that's astounding, additionally they many times value approximately 0.5 of what a facility costs. once you inspect in homestead daycare they might desire to be interviewing you as much as you're interviewing them. because of the fact there is purely one man or woman there to do care they actually might desire to make beneficial your newborn and your parenting varieties are a sturdy experience. they might desire to truly have a settlement comparable to a center. the two way you circulate i might make beneficial they're qualified and qualified. The regulation of latest child to grownup ratio is national and is an analogous for a facility and in homestead newborn care.

That is what my mother did and now its turned into a thriving business. She has my brother first and had to go back to work and then after she had me she just couldent leave me. So she started a "Mommy's day out" where she just had some local children come over and she would watch them. 20 years later she has a thriving business in two house's, 8 children in one house and 12 in her house.
