I need to lose about 60-70lbs and need help on what I should do. I tried once before for 6 weeks and didn't lose anything. Granted that wasn't that long but to go 6 weeks on a hardcore diet and excercise plan and not lose a lb just doesn't seem right to me.....

Anything that increases your heart rate will help you burn calories. I would suggest you going to this website. http://www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?s=health&m=plans/tools/burnrate/Control It is a calculator that tells you what work out you can chose and how long you can do it and how many calories you will burn. Good luck with your diet.

Well, it takes more than just a diet and exercise plan. It takes a rethinking of everything about your life.

How and when do you eat? How much? How many meals a day? How often do you eat out? Do you eat emotionally? What do you eat? Too much fat? Too much carbs? What is your schedule? How often and for how long can you reasonably expect to exercise.

You need to address all those questions and many more. I've lost close to 40 pounds and it took over 2 years to do it. Permanent weight loss is very slow but it tends to stay off. Rapid weight loss tends to be more transitive, as most people that do fad diets don't change their lifestyle.

However, exercise wise, if you want to accelerate the weight loss a bit then favor cardio-vascular exercise. You will want to have a fairly even mix of cardio (aerobics), strength training (weights), and stretch (yoga, etc.). If you favor aerobics you will have more rapid weight loss if you have a lot of fat to burn off, but once that fat is gone it will slow down considerably.

This is for the rest of your life. Are you ready?

First, good for you for looking at exercise and not crash diets or pills!

Run for 30 minutes every other day outside. Start slow and build up. Walk when you need to.

Lift weights and do an aerobics class on your non-running days. If you do not belong to a gym, buy some dumb bells from Target and use FiTV for the aerobics. Denise Austin incorporates weights into her LifeTime TV program.

You can also invest in video tapes/DVDs.

GOOD LUCK!

well if you are looking to lose just weight then don't use weight lifting excercises or muscle building ones because muscle weighs more than fat. my sister lost over 30 lbs in less than 3 moths by just changing her eating habits and walking. she eats smaller portions of the same foods she already ate. uses fresh veggies over canned or frozen and eats somewhat healthier foods or lower fat or calorie versions of some. she cut back on her salt and butter intake also. she eats three meals a day before she was just basically starving herself and getting no where. i kept telling her she just needed to cut back and change her eating habits it took her 5 years to listen and now she's lost a lot of weight and feels a lot better. she still has a little ways to go but she's over half way there. cardio work outs are best. if you'd like to lose inches weight training can tone and help you lose inches but as i mentioned muscle weighs more than fat.

that is a lot of weight, if you are in good health you should do some high speed walking. everyday for two weeks and then slow it down but continue to walk and do the special K for breakfast and eat a lite lunch very lite, and eat a regular meal for dinner before 6:00 at night. if you should get hungry you need to eat a snack.
