“The soul that is sinning—it itself will die,” says Ezekiel 18:4. Death is the common end of human souls, since all of us sin. (Psalm 51:5) Adam was told that the penalty for sin was death—not transfer to the spirit realm and immortality. (Genesis 2:17) And when he sinned, the sentence pronounced was “For dust you are and to dust you shall return.” (Genesis 3:19) When Adam and Eve died, they simply became what the Bible often refers to as ‘dead souls’ or ‘deceased souls.’ Same for us, for we are all human.

I believe you mean spirit.
Genesis 2:7 -- And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
The soul is composed of body and spirit ("breath of life").
Ecclesiastes 12:7 -- Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Yet, don't fall for the myth that the spirit is alive after death.
Isaiah 38:18 -- For the grave cannot praise thee [God], death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit [grave] cannot hope for thy truth.
The Bible is clear that the dead know nothing:
Ecclesiastes 9:5 -- For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Neither do they praise the LORD:
Psalm 115:17 -- The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
And don't fall for the lie that the spirit is immortal.
Ezekiel 18:4 -- Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Matthew 10:28 -- And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Hello John.
Souls don't go anywhere because there's no such thing as a soul. We are animals, with a brain developed to think fantastical thoughs. People who believe in souls or an afterlife, tend to be generally unhappy in their only life - though rarely admit to it. The here and now.
When one dies, their afterlife lays in the hearts and minds of those who loved them.
End of Story, x

If you are very unlucky your soul will go to heaven where you will have to suffer eternity with a lot of bible thumpers and Cliff Richard. On the other hand you may go to hell where you will enjoy the company of some very naughty ladies and The Rolling Stones. It all depends on how you live your life apparently.

Your soul need to reach the oracle of divinity, thats quite a task, so when you die, you go to the next realm where you are re born to learn more to become more wise. Have you ever met someone very young who seems to have a grasp of life already, seems to know all the right paths to take and the right answers, they are called old souls in a young bodies. Have you every met someone who is like a tumble weed, just about gets through life, always making mistakes and speaking nonsense, they are what you call new souls. To get the the oracle of divinity you need to go through seven realms. There you are taught through life, thats its not good to be selfish, greedy, money orientated, spiteful and jealous of others, not helping people, hateful and prejudice against your neighbour. When you can finally say that, you have reached your place in Heaven.

We don't have 'souls'. We are just livimg creatures, we have no divine purpose, there is no after life, when you are dead you are no longer alive, in any way at all.
Religion, and our belief that there is a god and somewhere special for us to go after our lives end, is merely a product of mankinds arrogence. We cannot accept that this is IT.
I'm not against religion at all, I know it comforts alot of people, and that's a good thing obviously, but you did ask!

Depends on the person. I do believe the soul is still aware and exists.

I was taught to believe in heaven and hell, but those ideas came from the Bible, which I have come to realize that it is a flawed, man-made book. Therefore, I cannot answer your question. I guess we'll just find out when you cross that bridge.

I would say it goes wherever you think it goes. If you believe that you are going to a heaven or hell, then yeah sure you will go there. Same thing with reincarnation, if you think you will come back as a better or worse person based on how you lived your life then you will. It depends on your belief system.
