Well, peanuts are pretty high in fat and calories. Too much sodium from the salt can also increase the risk for high blood pressure and heart disease.
I guess a few packets every now and then won't hurt, though.

How big is a packet? Those little one or two ounce things? Don't worry about it.
Main problem with salted peanuts is the fact that they're heavily salted. It could affect your blood pressure if it runs high, due to the high sodium levels.
But if you mean those little packets like you get from the vending machines, it's probably not a problem. If your blood pressure is getting too high, though, lay off the peanuts. Otherwise they're a good source of protein. A bit high in the fat department, but I'd be more worried about the sodium levels than the fat.

I'm also addicted to peanuts. I boil peanuts in water but before putting the bowl in the microwave for 8 minutes, I also sprinkle some salt and wait impatiently. When it is done I eat the peanuts like a monkey. You should try it and report back in a week. I think if we don't have the weight problem we should be fine. Or maybe not but I don't care. I love my peanuts.

Keep in mind that all nuts contain many calories so be sure you factor that in to your diet. Nuts including peanuts are a very healthy food. If you have salt related medical problems , change to unsalted nuts.

Too much of anything is not good.
If you are the skinny, nervous type, you can eat more salt.
If you are the heavy or angry type, you should watch the salt.
