I have been painting for 30 years off and on. Old school I guess you could say. Landscape oils. And I've always tried to keep up with what the galleries are looking for. And at the same time trying to keep and develop my own style. Now I'm at a point where I am ready to get back into the gallery scene again. Are the galleries still looking for oil painting landscapes, and if so where is the place to start looking?

Hey Jantry,

My pleasure to work on an answer for your question. Your dedication to painting is to be admired. You should do what you like to do, but it seems you realize like and life have a different 'letter'. Life takes money, and well, we are all selling something, or labor, our wares, our looks, etc.

So, while I cannot say what is hot, here are some gallery links in New York. Also, posting on Divanart is hot these days. An account is free there.

have you tried asking the people that you already have sold paintings too?

outside that, the galleries in tourist towns for some reason always do brisk business, that may be a place to start looking.

This is a question that connot be asked unless you are looking for opinion based responses. I have worked for many galleries and art magazines and their opinions are all different.

I think it is about getting lucky!
