I agree - go to the library and look for some chapter books that you can read to him before bedtime. At this age I read Paddington Bear and Winnie the Pooh.
Here are some sites with lists for you.

How about Roald Dahl books? Like the BFG, or Danny, the Champion of the World, or the Giant Peach. Or maybe the Harry Potter books - but those might be a bit advanced for him.

You have a good start, you know what he likes, take him to the library and allow him to help you pick out books that he is interested in. there are many books that have several chapters. Keep him involved in the choosing and he will retain his interest. I am not surprised that he bored with picture books....sounds like a smart little guy

There are a few series out there that are great for that age!
One of my favorites is The Boxcar Children. You may need to search a little for that one, but it really is a great series about a group of children who live in a boxcar who solve mysteries.
Mr Toads Wild Ride, or anything by that author would be GREAT reading and could take maybe 3 days to finish.
The options are endless. I would take him to the library and have him pick out a few things that he likes. Try them out and stick to it! Reading is sooo wonderful for people of all ages!

For vampires i decide to propose Evernight by Claudia gray. that's have been given an thrilling twist. in case you have not examine starvation video games, they're an fairly relaxing examine - tricky to place down. comparable with the Uglies sequence, I wolfed that mind-blowing up. I additionally truly enjoyed the Darkest Powers sequence by Kelley Armstrong. the 1st e book is The Summoning. homestead of nighttime is...ok, yet not great. that's rather like Twilight, which you may desire to like it besides. chuffed interpreting!

They may be too intense for him, but how about Harry Potter or The Hobbit? Also, I hear the Captain Underpants series is entertaining - funny and magical.
