Hi there...hematuria (blood in urine) and frequent urination is indicative that your cat has a lower urinary tract disorder/infection. Urethral obstructions can develop in some cats and if left untreated this can become very LIFE-THREATENING within 24-48 hours as the bladder builds up and ruptures within the abdominal cavity and is fatal.

It means that your cat has a urinary tract infection or could possibly be blocked. If it is a male cat that was neutered too early the probability of being blocked increases (if neutered before 6 months). My cat had the same thing happen to him. He was neutered @ 5months old (before I became a vet tech and knew better) and had really bad urinary problems. You need to take it to the vet so they can run a urinalysis. This is important and will help let them know what steps to take to treat your cat. They may be able to get it in a litter pan once there but will probably ultrasound the bladder and use a needle to retrieve the urine (cystocentesis) and then run the test on it. If not they may have to put the cat under general anesthesia and put in a urinary catheter to get the urine. Then once the have done the urinalysis they will know what is probably causing the UTI/blockage. Most likely your cat will be put on s/d food to break down any crystals that are causing problems, then the vet will probably recheck the urine in a couple of weeks and if the crystals are broken down then your cat will probably be put on c/d for a maintence diet to help prevent future blockages. This is what our protocol was for any urinary tract issues at my vet. Your vet may do something different but I would recommend that they at least try to get some urine. when my male was sick with the same problem the vet i took him to didnt do any sort of test and just prescribed him s/d food and antibiotics. I didn't know any better so I just went with it. Yes it did help my cat but I wish he would have at least done some tests or something instead of just guessing what was wrong. He got lucky and vets shouldnt guess what is wrong they should run tests and know exactly (or as exactly as they can) what is wrong. This same vet guess that my grandmothers dog had cancer without doing any tests so my grandmother didnt do anything for her until two months later she got a 2nd opinion and found out her dog was in kidney failure. She ended up having her put to sleep but the other vet said if the first one had done tests he would have seen that it was her kidneys and could have treated them. So he may have guessed right on my cat be he didnt guess right on my grandmas dog. So make sure your vet actually does something (or at least examines the cat) so you can have peace of mind knowing that the vet did something.

Sorry I got off on a rant but just be careful and go with your gut. If you feel like something should be done and the vet doesnt want to do it, find another vet. Vets will always give you their opinion but they will almost always do anything you want them to do for your vet. if you have any questions email me

It is most likely a urinary tract infection, other possibilities are bleeding ulcers(happens with high stress), and crystals(kidney stones in cats). Take to the vet immediately, prolonging will cause the issue to worsen, and not urinating can lead to the cat's death. If you where urinating blood I am sure you would have seen a doctor already.

It sounds like a urinary tract an infection. it is definitely something that desires to be appeared at. while you're actually not financially in a position i might attempt and capture a urine pattern and take it to your interior reach Vet. purely clarify that that's a stray cat and you elect to have a urinalysis executed on the pattern. i'm unsure notwithstanding if your Vet may be prepared to prescribe a medicine without actual seeing the cat yet my vet might as long because of the fact the urinalysis have been executed.

this is an emergency. VET NOW!!!! He has a blocked urethra and cannot pee properly. He is in pain and if you don't get to the vet immideately, he will die in agony. Imagine having a full bladdr, brusting to go and not being able to. Eventually his body will start to break down from the toxins in the urine not being able to be peed away and escaping into his blood stream!!

It sounds like your cat has crystals or stones this causes blood to get into that cats urine, you need to take your cat to the vet to have the crystals or stones removed. This can cause the cat to have problems when urinating and can be painful.

This VERY serious...Your cat probably has a blockage and is in doubt in a lot of pain. Take it to the vet immediatly prolonging a trip to the vet could result in the cat's bladder rupturing...

Infection. If it's a male cat, he could be blocked which means it could turn life threatening. He'll need to be unblocked at the vets office. Either way, you'll need to call and /or go to the vet.
