If I casually mention that I'm a good cook, often gourmet style, or invite a woman over for a homemade dinner, they take special interest. Why is that?

Traditionally, cooking has been the work of women, so perhaps your ability to cook well suggests sensitivity in you. Also, it's convenient that if you are in a relationship that the cooking doesn't always have to fall on the woman's shoulders. Cooking is more than meets the eye. It shows family tradition in recipes you may have learned from home, it shows creativity in the ingredients and flavors you choose and how you combine and prepare them, and it shows thoughtfulness if you enjoy cooking for other people.

I'm sure that's not the only reason women become interested in you, but as for the question asked, my answer is one possibility.

Men who can and will cook are a blessing to a working woman. They are also as rare as hen's teeth lol.
It is really nice to have someone cook for you. In the dating stages, it is more personal and shows more care than taking her to a restaraunt every time you get together.
For those who are looking for a more permanent relationship, it is a sign that you will be a good helpmate.

I guess, its probably not so much your cooking, maybe its just you they like. And then once they have your food they know that you have a passion. Being a great cook must mean that you are very passionate about cooking, therefore a passionate and loving person to be with. This really reflects upon you.

Because some women want a wife more than they want a "traditional" husband. Many women are working professionals and would like to come home and put their feet up while someone else prepares a delicious meal after a long day.

Be glad you have this talent!

Because it means that all the cooking won't be left to them!
Another reason might be that they think being a good cook makes you the sensitive type, and maybe that's what they're attracted to.

This is one of those "skills" that instantly elevates you in the eyes of womenfolk because so most men are more inclined ask, "What's for dinner?" than know their way around the kitchen themselves. Our first few years of marriage my hubby cooked more than I did! It's nice when a man can do more than warm a couch- ouch! (I just meant at dinnertime. ;)

Because most men don't cook, or if they do, they don't do it very well. A woman feels special that you would want to cook for them and will feel pampered when you do.

I would guess because most men don't know how to cook. I also think it is a good trait to have in general. If you think about it food is related to sex. Good food also leads to good sex.

Are you a man? If yes, women like to see a man who knows his way around the kitchen and a woman likes to have a meal prepared for her too and not vice versa.............
