do you skyclad?

I used to when I was one at first. But since I was a solitary, it wasn't much fun. Eventually I made my own robe and tried to dye it black (because Laurie Cabot said black was a "nutral color, yeah right) but it turned out grey.

The reason Wiccans were skyclad was because it's founder Gerald Gardner was a nudist.

Not a Wiccan... I'm a Pagan. Though the idea of naked pagan dancing is pretty cool, I have to agree with wrldzgr8. It seems the idea of skyclad meaning nude is a modern invention. Skyclad meaning wearing clothing that resembles the night sky... all the time. ;o)

The original reference to the practice of skyclad rituals comes from the 1897 text by Charles Leland, "Aradia, Gospel of the Witches". It's reflected again in the more modern version, "The Charge of the Goddess", by Doreen Valiente. The line reads: "...as a sign that you are free, you shall be naked in your rites."

As to whether I go Skyclad? I have gone skyclad, I will probably do so again.

I don't because I can't really find a spot on my college campus that I could do that aside from my dorm room. Plus it is a little too cold right now for my taste to go out skyclad.

When I was Wiccan, no, but I respected those who chose to. I think the idea is a nice one, if one feels that comfortable with their body in a society that has twisted standards of "beauty".

I don't, because I live in a studio apartment with one huge window to the West (i.e. directly across from my altar) in my main room that faces another apartment building across the parking lot.

And I don't like pulling the blinds because I get such wonderful natural light through my huge window, and my cats enjoy playing with (i.e. breaking) blinds.

Plus, they keep the heat in my building at about 62 degrees, and it's the middle of winter where I am.

the term "skyclad" is not what many people think it is. it comes from the celtic tradition of wearing colors that resembled the night sky. dark blues... black... and often times decorating their garments with moons and stars. and yes... i go skyclad as often as possible.
