And if anyone would know about digestion, it would be Oprah. Man can she put down a steak!

There's a lot of phoey put out about this. Think of your digestive tract as a long tube processing stuff. Sure some things are absorbed more quickly than others but from one end to the other everything is going to take the same time. Your digestive tract doesn't have overtaking lanes where one meal can get past another.
So absorption is one thing, but full digestion from one end to the other is another. This depends on you and you can tell by recognising what you ate and seeing it the second time around!

What is *your* definition of "digest"? Your body has broken it down and absorbed the nutrients it is going to within the 4-8 hour range, but it may take the colon longer to eliminate the remnants. This process is highly variable between people. Some people defecate daily, others once every few days. BTW, some of us "health nuts" are omnivores. You know the brain is a metabolically expensive organ, and had our ancestors voluntarily elected to not eat meat, we would not be here today.

I watched Oprah last week, and she had her Dr. on. Ironically, that is one of the things they discussed. He said approximately 12 hours for most foods to completely digest.

Just to clarify - This was Oprahs Dr. and he was on answering the questions of the audience members, Oprah did not ask this. Why pick on her? Thats so cruel.

You never really do.

The human digestive tract is not made for meat. We're herbivores by nature. Go vegetarian before you ruin yourself, man.

How did Oprah get so big?

Didn't she swear off eating meat?
If a person is not slaughtering his own, he should go veg.

If we didn't have millions of eye-legal eye-mo-grynts working
in slaughter-houses and other meat-producing jobs, one would have to slaughter his own.
