I've always had curly hair. For the past few months I've straightened my hair. Now I'm getting bored of it straight. I've been told curly hair isn't in. Is this true? If I go curly again, would I ruin my hair if I wanted to straighten every now and then?

I have no idea which hair is 'in'. I have naturally curly hair but I've been straightening it almost every day with some sort of flat iron or large curling iron for at least 15 years, plus I've been dying it for just as long. I don't 'iron' it stick straight anymore, just straight enough with some very large waves. Whenever I wash it and let it dry naturally, it's still curly. My hair isn't 'ruined'. If anything, it's possible that my hair is a tiny bit more brittle at the ends and I may have a bit more breakage than if I just left my hair alone. I always use conditioners and my hair is almost waist length so obviously it's not like it all falls out or anything.

*It's strange but all my boyfriends have tried to make me keep my hair curly. I don't know why they like it so much but I can't stand it!

I have curly, very curly hair, I use an ionic ceramic straighter to straighten my hair. I prefer it straight but now and then during the summer I wear it curly when I don't have time to straighten it. If you decide to wear your hair curly you won't ruin your hair as long as you don't use a chemical straightener. If you get a good straightening iron, then you won't have to worry about it at all, I go back and forth, and you don't get as much damage as you would if you used chemicals. I recommend a Sedu or Chi straightening iron and Chi products, I DO NOT recommend a true ceramic pro, junk. ;)

My mate had this problem! She got her hair permed, but then straightened it nearly every day! I think you need to be able to choose either way. You have curly hair and can eaily straighten it when you want to, so go for it and be curly! Plus it's less effort than having to straighten it every day! Straightening won't kill your hair, just don't do it every day, and use a heat protector - it's good stuff!
Have fun, and do what you want, don't worrying about going with the flow!

You are getting A LOT OF ANSWERS! I don' t think curly is "out" a lot of celebs are doing it both ways. I think you could leave it natural for some spice and if you decide that you want to change it again then its totally up to you! I think straight is being done for a sophisticated look and if you aren't wearing those kind of clothes then use curly for a cute look! Hope this helped :)

My fella always comments when I leave my hair curly, he prefers it over straightening!, in fact the men I know all seem to prefer curly/wavy hair, for some reason 'it's sexy'! Set a trend and have 'just got out of bed' hair!

Volume is in and i have heard that 'natural' hair is in which i presume is if your hair is straight then leave it straight and if it's curly then curls are cool. Personally i would vary it but i would say i think a french plait with curly hair is a bit 90s.

curly hair isnt "out", maybe it depends on the type of curls you have. 80's poodle perms arent really a good thing for anyone.

U need to use deep conditioning treatments and would be good if when straightening you use a heat protective spray too

It doesn't matter whether straight or curly hair is fasionable. What matters is what suits you and and what is easier to deal with! You can get some awesome products to make the most of your curls and curls are cool. Have fun with them.

I'm naturally curly too and have been straightening for 10 years!! AVOID this like the plague...i wish i could get my curls back.
Any one saying curls aren't in must have un-curlable straight hair...it's divine!
Men love it, girls want it (REALLY)
Straightning every now and then is fine-just protect your hair with serum or heat related products
