Basic Training of the Puppy - Read here https://tr.im/eNoWU

The new puppy is certainly one of the most adorable and cuddly creatures that has ever been created. It is the most natural thing in the world to shower it with love and affection. However, at the same time it is important to realize that if you want to have a well trained adult dog, you need to begin the training process right away. The dog, like its related ancestor, the wolf, is a pack animal. One of the features of a pack is that it has a single dominant leader. Your new puppy is going to want that leader to be you, but if you do not assume that role from the very beginning, the puppy’s instincts will push him to become the leader.

The most important thing to remember about training the puppy during its first six months of life is that it must see you as the leader of the family pack. The essential thing is gaining the trust and the respect of the puppy from the beginning. You will not do this by allowing the puppy to do whatever it wants to do whenever it wants to do it. On the other hand, a certain amount of patience is required. Most people err in their early training by going to extremes one way or the other. Although you need to begin the basic training process at once, you can not expect your dog to do too much at first. Basic obedience training is fine and should include simple commands like sit, stay, and come. Remember that trying to teach the dog advanced obedience techniques when it is a puppy is much like trying to teach a five year old child algebra.

It is also important to restrain from cruel or abusive treatment of the puppy. You can not beat obedience into your dog, and it certainly is not going to engender feeling of respect and trust. House breaking is an area where this usually becomes a problem because of the anger that is triggered when the puppy fails and creates a mess inside the home. Although this issue must be addressed without anger, it most be addressed. If you allow the puppy to eliminate inside the house, it will continue to do so as an adult dog. The same thing is true of other destructive or dangerous behavior such as chewing and biting. Do not expect the puppy to grow out of it. You are going to need to train the puppy out of it, but you should do so firmly but with a sense of play and fun using positive reinforcement and lots of love and praise for good behavior.

He's a baby and it seems he's already trying to dominate everything he sees.

Create a hierachy in your home. You must be top dog. Start teaching Thumper some basic rules. Sit, Down etc. When he starts his dominating behavior IMMEDIATELY put him in sit then a down! No if ands or butts.

When he's around 4-6 months enroll him in training classes. It seems like it's a long wait but most dogs retain more information around that age especially if its a class w/ other dogs. If you chose to do private lessons (which I recommend since they tailor to your specific needs) you can start earlier. Petsmart and Petco try to get you in around 8 weeks which isn't really a bad idea either if you need help teaching him the basics AND socialization (which is extremely important).

Mounting and biting are natrual behaviors - for top dogs. You must be top dog - short of humping and biting him back. They have laws for that!! Well in most states anyway!!

Get him training classes, establish the heirarchy and you'll be fine!

GOOD LUCK

This is normal puppy behaviour but you need to nip it in the bud NOW .. Rotts are dominant and looks like he is trying to rule the roost already .. Get puppy into training classes , i know they can be a bit expensive but very worth it . We have had 3 rottweilers and the ankle biting is normal although my kids were terrified lol , try to distract the little blighter with one of his/her own toys , throw a ball etc to distract him/her . As for the humping its true get puppy a teddy ! I cannot emphasise enough though the training class ! It will be so worth it as rotts are excellent pets and very loyal and affectionate ( mine were) .

Its all down to pecking order and puppy should be at the very bottom and you at the top . Let him understand you`re the boss !

Good luck !

Have Jade Goodie and Her monstermom to stay for a week. He'll never want to hump anything again.

Seriously, get him neutered and get some help from a professional with his training. Rotties are beautiful sloppy bundles of love when they know their place.

Start your dog in some training. Some places offer puppy kindergarten and this will start to help your puppy learn manners. You are the ultimate teacher though...you have to be consistant with your discipline. An 8 week old rotty biting is one thing....an 8 month old rotty is gonna be much worse. I highly recommend professional training....this is gonna be a big, powerful dog and you need to have control over it.

This is how pups play with each other. If you handle him and make a lot of noise he'll enjoy the game and do it even more. You have to ignore him, turn your back on him and try giving him a toy to play with instead.
Take him to puppy training classes as it will also teach you all the tricks and how to handle and train him, as well as teaching him better manners.

as the other answers said take him to training classes but, first off try using a water spray, every time that he does it give him a spray and say NO so he knows he is not allowed to do it. Also try just rewarding the good behaviour and ignoring the bad, he might just be doing it to get attention
