Have heard more than one Brit complain that they can't wait to be back home to have a good cup of tea. I have a teapot, electric kettle, box of PG Tips ( box claims it is England's no 1 tea) and a teacup that would do Hyacinth Bucket proud.....now what? Can anyone help a girl out?

Warm the teapot with a little hot water and empty.
Put 2 tea bags (tend to use 1 tea bag per person, but if you are only having tea for one, then 1 tea bag in a pot is pants) and put the equivalent of about 2 large cups of boiling hot water into the tea pot.
Now get your cup and put sugar into it (white sugar, that is) - maybe just one for a cup (we brits tend to favour the "mug" which is larger. NOTE not everyone takes sugar, so you could try with or without.
Plonk some milk on top of the sugar in the cup. We brits favour full fat or semi-skimmed milk - don't know what you've got.
You are waiting for 2-3 minutes for the tea to brew. When the appropriate length of time has passed, give it a little stir with your tea spoon.
Now pour the tea into the waiting cup. Give it all a stir. Get yourself a rich tea or digestive buscuit (although watch out for those digestives because they like to fall apart in the cup).
Sit back and enjoy.

Yum.

First other thing you need is a teapot sized for at leat two cups. Boil excess water to that required and just prior to boiling point, put a little of the hot water into the teapot and swirl round. Empty this out before putting in the teabag. Bring kettle back to the boil and add water to pot - enough for about two cups of tea. Keep the teapot warm with a tea cosy or on a low heat on the cooker. Allow to infuse for a few minutes (3). It is now ready to pour but first add a little milk to the teacup THEN pour the tea. Add sugar if you like but is just a matter of taste

The British usually put tea bags in a small tea Pot, add boiling water, let it sit until it's brewed, then pour into the cup. Some add up to a half cup milk, some add white sugar. PG Tips & Tetley are the most popular. Just like Americans, some like it strong and some don't.

Unfortunately, Americans don't drink nearly as much tea as the British, so I suspect they may notice your tea is not as fresh as what they're used to.

Good Luck!

Forget the tea pot. Place one teabag in the cup, pour on boiling water, leave for 15 seconds and stir bag to release the flavour. Now remove the teabag, squeezing out as you remove and add a small amount of milk, until it looks a nice light toffee colour. You can add one or two tsps of sugar if you have a sweet tooth (I take mine without). Enjoy with a plain biscuit for dunking.

Twinings do a really lovely Vanilla and Coconut tea which is miles better than that awful PG Tips muck... Get rid of it and have a cup of herbal, which will do you miles more good anyday. Also, if you don't like tea without milk, this one tastes nice with milk too.
