Please DO NOT biopsy this lump. It is most likely what is called cellulitis; a local cellular reaction. Your cat had major abdominal surgery. If she was a human, she would take a minmum of 6 weeks to recover. It is normal for there to be some tissue reaction as the scar tissue reorganizes and strengthens. If you have been monitoring the site and have not noticed a foul odour or and abnormal fluid draining, it is likely fine. Call the vet who did the procedure and ask if they would like you to come in for a recheck. I usually don't worry about these at all when my clients come in, but I can't see your cat. You have to make the final call. Good luck to you...

Did they use the dissolving stitches or kind that are removed after about 10 days? That area can feel hard or lumpish as you describe for some time. What you do not want is discoloration or a hot fevered area. Or pain if you touch. This would pertain to the immediate incision site.

If the lump or firm feeling spot is not directly the incision site then you do need to advise the vet. Most do a recheck of the surgery and should! Even if desolving stitches are used they still take a second look. Should be included in the spay fees.

So, to be safe, please give vet a call!!

This lump is not normal. Take your cat to the vet as soon as you can and insist that he do a biopsy of the lump. This will let you and the vet know if the lump is cancerous or not. Anyway, the lump should be removed at some point after your cat has healed from her spay.

maximum in all probability it is a mushy reaction to the stitches used to close the incision. Worst case situation is the underlying incision has opened some and there is now a hernia. this happens yet no longer very in many cases. perfect to go back to the vet for a recheck exam and be sure each thing is high-quality. each so often the vet may have you ever note a warm/warmth %. to the realm two times on a daily basis no matter if that is a stitch reaction to help the swelling decrease. good success!

Sometime there is a slight swelling after being fixed but if it was two weeks ago I would definatly call the vet and tell him. He may want to lo9ok at it when they take out the stitches but always better to be safe rather then sorry

It is definitely not normal. What is normal is for cats to develop abcesses. Since they clean themselves by licking they get subcutaneous infections VERY easily. Your cat needs antibiotics. Take her to a vet ASAP.

Mine had that too, and eventually it went away. I would still see a vet and have them check it out though.
