I'm about 5'6" and weigh 101 lbs. I'm 16 years old. I used to be very much anorexic. And my friends called it. Now I believe, or at least I want to believe, I'm better. I recently gained about 10 lbs by forcing myself to eat so much I got sick. My friends don't believe me. But I'm having issues believing myself. How can I prove to them...and to myself...that I'm healthy? NOTE: I did not recieve professional help before.

It sounds like you might be experiencing a bit of a relapse. This happens in recovery and the most important thing that you can do it catch it early. Just because you're slipping doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to have a full-blown relapse, so don't give up.

If you have a minute, you should take the EAT-26 test -- http://www.healthyplace.com/communities/Eating_Disorders/concernedcounseling/eat/EATtest.htm This is an online version of the test and although it's can't provide you with an accurate diagnosis, it may answer some of your questions and help you figure out what's normal and what's not.

good luck

Well, professional help would be best. They would know how to help you eat healthy but gain weight without have to eat too much. I am almost 5' 6" and I weigh 110 lbs and I am 22 years old. When I was 16, I think I weighed 100 lbs. so I don't think it sounds like you are anorexic. You know inside you if you are anorexic or not because you had it before. Don't listen to anyone but inside yourself. You don't need to prove to anyone that you are okay, just yourself. Trust yourself. You would know better than anyone else. I do, however, think you should go to the doctor's for you and to eat without getting sick. Good luck!

If your still forcing yourself to eat your probably still anorexic. It can take months or maybe years to overcome. Even people who no longer drink can still be alcoholics. Every day you eat a healthy amount of food is moving you closer to being better. Every time you skip meals because you are afraid of gaining weight is a step back. There are people who overcome anorexia without professional help but they always need a support system of family and friends. As far as your friends go, just eat whenever they do and make sure they know about, and help you with, your progress.
Here is an article about a mother helping her daughter overcome anorexia without traditional therapy. It is called "One Spoonful at a Time" and was published in the New York Times Magazine. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/26/magazine/26anorexia.html?ex=1322197200&en=1d999f24de11a042&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

you will be anorexic going by using information and BMI yet are you asserting the medical doctors think of you're affected by anorexia nervosa cos it is distinctive. somebody could be anorexic while not having an eating disease. The medical doctors will purely bypass on weight and top and then seem at a chart and label you yet once you have not got an argument with food then it fairly is purely the way you're and don't lavatory your self down with what the medical doctors say and don't waste it sluggish attempting to coach them incorrect or you will be able to wind up with an eating disease.

Being anorexic is not just a eating disorder. A lot of people with this has a problem with control in their life. They feel that they cannot control anything in there life so they control the amount of food they eat because this is something that no one can control but themselves. This is just one of the problems with this. Some people who have it think they are fat so they don't eat but in truth they are not fat. Do you have these problems if you do then go seek out help. But just because you are underweight doesn't mean you are anorexic! If you feel you eat a normal amount (not starving yourself or forcing your self to eat). Then you still may wish to see a doctor because you could have other heath issues! that is causing you to be under weight. If you don't eat because you are not hungry also doesn't mean you are anorexic. But if you don't eat because you think your fat or because you are feel a loss of control in your life then you might be anorexic. Do your research on it. But you still should see a doctor just incase.

You don't need to prove anything to anyone other than yourself. If you feel you are eating regularly and are healthy, then that should do it. If you can look at yourself and honestly believe you are on the road to a continuous recovery from this disease, then you can tell htem and leave it at that.

If you are having to force yourself to eat, then you have an eating disorder. It may or may not be anorexia; it can only be diagnosed by a professional. Get some help with this.

if u dont think ur fat, ur NOT anorexic. anorexia is a mental thing, not physical. i weigh 104 lbs, im 5'5, im 16 and NOT anorexic.. in fact, i eat every 2 hours. some days im just not hungry at all. everyones body handles food a different way. u dont have a problem unless u choose to believe it.

Forcing yourself to binge, which is what you did, is not healthy. It does not mean you are better. In fact, binging is part of anorexia, bulemia and other eating disorders.

Please get professional help for your disorder. It is not something you can handle alone.

I think you need to look into professional help. Your friends may see something in you that you may not see. It doesn't hurt to ask for help. It is healthier if you do. Good Luck with everything.
