A cheaper way to detect the older devices is to switch your radio to AM, and slowly work your way through all the channels; the older devices worked off of radio frequencies which would cause interference and squelch on an AM radio.

You would be real surprissed how cheap it is to spy on someone If you have an answering machine in your house you may want to loose it..
