Back in the 90's my appendix ruptured and I ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks fed via IV only. I lost 30 lbs. but I wouldn't recommend it, hehehe.

Any surgery will do it, b/c your diet is very restricted right after it, you're bound to loose few pounds. I had my appendix taken out when I was 16 and lost about 10 lbs. b/c of it.
