I believe she may have been a collie/siberian husky mix or a collie/siberian laika mix. She was black, white, and tan. Her colors were where they are on the longhaired black, tan and white collie with the tip of her tail being white and her eyebrows tan. She was a shorthair, medium or large sized dog, weighing about 55-65lb. She was about 27" to the shoulder and had resonably long legs(I think they were a little longer than a collie's proportionaly). She had a line of white fur behind her frond leg up the shoulder, and tan and white fur on her thighs. Her tail was 16-20" long and she held it with a slight upword curve when alert. Her ears were the shape and size of a collie's, and never fell over, they were always held up. When she stood her legs were fairly staight, her back legs were under her and did not go back. Her body resembled a collie. Her snout was pointed, but not as pointed as a collie. Her head was also more box-like than a collie's and her mouth smaller.

I know the quality of a dog is it's tempermant, I've just always been curious with what breed she was and since she's gone I've become more curious. I know that she was part collie because her puppy is obviously part collie.

Do you have a pic? That would be helpful..

Sounds like she might have a little boxer if her head is "box - like"
and had the weight (on avg. 55-70 lbs) and height (avg. 21 - 25 inches tall) try this link:
(did she kinda look a little like that?)
http://www.akc.org/breeds/boxer/index.cfm

Husky:
She had the height and weight for that too they are about 35-60lbs and 20 - 23.5 inches tall. this link will take you to a site for the looks and info for them:

GOOD LUCK!!!

It was a mutt and even if you did find out what the mix was it does not mean a dog of the same mix will be the same or even similar. The way a dog turns out has more top do with how it is socialized and trained. If you are looking to get a dog just go and find a puppy/dog you like at your local pound or shelter and train/raise it with discipline and love and you will have another great dog.
Because you did not include a picture of the dog for anyone to ponder a guess the only thing I can suggest is to go to akc.org and look at the pictures of the different breeds and see which one your dog most resembles. Labs have box like heads.
