when they do genetic testing what do they really check for?

they are testing for abnormalities that can show concern for the baby's health. if there is an anything unusual then what they'll do is take blood from you and the father and then match it up to see if it is harmful or not to the baby.i went through it and before they do it they'll sit down and explain everything about it to you. if you have questions or concerns about it then you should ask your ob/gyn. good luck!!!

Genetic testing is a very broad area. Some is done to prevent disease. Some is done for research. Then you have your tests to determine whom a child belongs to.

Can you narrow this down? What kind of genetic testing are you asking about?

the will to what is called a triple marker test around 16 weeks and it checks for neural tube disorders such as downs syndrome.

depends on the test. there are cheaper ones that test for only one thing or more expensive tests that test for many different things.
