Okay, so maybe you'll think I'm crazy but I really want to pursue an acting career in Hong Kong. I've studied acting all my life and really love HK cinema and TVB. How hard would it be to pursue acting in HK/TVB? Do you need connections? Anyone know the process? Advice?

Keep in mind I'm vietnamese and also don't know a word of chinese but I'm going to start learning. Should I learn Mandarin or Cantonese? And how much would it cost to live in Hong Kong?

Again, you probably think I'm crazy but this has been my dream. Any advice/answers will help. Thanks!

Go to Hong Kong and look up agencies and go register with them. They'll take your picture or accept your book of pictures that you have. Tell them you want to act but accept any modeling deals too. That will get your foot in the door and you'll slowly make connections. You will probably eventually learn what the best agency is to do what you want to do and hopefully they can get you work.

for modelling, you don't need to learn Chinese. People can understand ENglish.

for acting, you have to learn to speak Cantonese if you want to make movie in Hong Kong. Cantonese is offical language in Hong Kong.

you can sign up the agency in HK, and it is very easy. but i don't know if you can find a job easily, and you just have to discuss with them.

the main point is, do you look very good? good enought to be a celebtriy? it all comes down to how u look and talent.

good luck!

Well, first you should work as a model in an agency. However, be careful of scam!! Some of them are fake and will cost you money. Once you are a model, then you'll work your way through the Hong Kong movies world...........however, it is tough. The competition is high with all those teenyboppers idols such as the Twins and all..............

In HK, they are all hybrids. i.e. singer/actor/dancers. So you need to train for all the above.
The easiest way to joint the business is through beauty pagents. Followed by modeling careers.
The grass root class started by joining training schools hosted by the TV stations like TVB.
You will need to learn cantonese, HK loves foreign ethnic performers if they can speak or sing in chinese.
And last but not least, you will have to deal with all the nitty gritty of the hollywood syndrome. Snuggling up to producers and directors as well as the rich and famous of the city.
