Native spirituality is ancient and is practiced in most continents.

Hinduism began as a separate religion from the Proto-Indo-Iranian religion around 1200 BCE, but according to Hindus, the santana dharma (eternal religion) has no beginning or end. Hinduism is practiced in India and several nearby countries but there are Hindus around the world.

Jainism is also an Indian religion. It was founded by Mahavira who lived (599-527 BC, though possibly 549-477 BC). It is an Indian religion.

Sikhism is also an Indian religion. It began in the sixteenth century in northern India, founded by Guru Nanak. Most followers are in India.

Buddhism began with Siddharta Gautama Buddha, who lived from from 563 BCE to 483 BCE. It is practiced in India, China, Japan and many south Asian countries.

Judaism began circa 1200 BC with Moses, who wrote the commandments of the Torah. Judaism is mostly practiced in Israel, America and Russia.

Christianity began with the life and mission of Jesus (Yeshua or Yehoshua) ha-Nasri, who lived in the first century CE. He was born between 4-1 BCE and was executed in 33 CE. His followers called Him the Messiah, or, in Greek, Christ (Xpistos).

Islam began with the revelation of Muhammad. Muhammad was an Ishmaelite Arabian who lived 570-632 AD. Islam is mostly practiced in Arabia, North Africa, Iran and some south Asian countries.

You forgot to mention another major world religion, the latest and second most widespread of the independent world religions: the Bahá'í Faith. The Bahá'í Faith was founded by an Iranian nobleman entitled Bahá'u'lláh (1817-1892) in the mid-nineteenth century and has since spread to every part of the world. The largest community is in India. In Iran it is the largest minority religion. See http://bahai.org/ for more information or http://reference.bahai.org/ to read the Bahá'íHoly Writings.

That question is Big, very BIIIIIG. I'd suggest you start at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion and work your way out from there. From there, move on to www.sacred-texts.com and read the original texts. I asked myself this question for the first time 16 years ago, and I've still only scratched the surface. It's fascinating stuff though.

No body really knows for sure, but we have ideas as to who started these.

Christianity - Started from taking the belief of people who followed Jesus's word, branched off from the Jewish faith. We know it started after Jesus resurrected, I'd say after 30 A.D.

Islam - Started from Mohammand, not sure about details. I know it was in A.D.

Judaism - Not sure, I'd imagine Moses, no body knows when it started either.

Buddhism - Branched off from Hinduism, the founded is Buddha, don't remember around what time period it started.

Hinduism - Nobody knows for sure

I'm not sure about the other ones, you may want to google them.
