The mission of the Church is to proclaim and establish the Kingdom of God begun by Jesus Christ among all peoples.

The Church constitutes on earth the seed and beginning of this saving Kingdom.

As part of this mission, the Church also has to pay employees, insurance, utilites, maintenance, etc.

Absolutely not. I have been in the Pastoral Council of a parish and director of a social services program for a diocese and I can tell you that the Catholic Church is a poor Church.

Catholics have always given generously to the Church, just as the Bible says we should. This is why the Catholic Church is able to operate more schools, hospitals, hostels, counseling centers and other institutions providing basic human needs, than all other churches combined. Do I detect a note of jealousy?

It's the same in every major church. Money and politics.

If churches want a say in government, they'd better prepare to pay taxes.

I have been on retreat in a monastery. When you see the quiet and pious life led by nuns and monks, you are disabused of any notion that Catholic spirituality is reduced to money.

There are people in every walk of life to whom money and power is everything. We must not let that knowledge turn us from our worship of God. Christians can remain steadfast in the midst of wrong.

HUH its always about money silly goose.....why else are preachers on cable TV...giving out prayers.....while have semi seziures...and all those gold artifacts always lying around curches....?...gold was enever cheap bucko.....
