First of all having "black folks hair" doesn't make your hair hard to grow. As long as you know what your hair needs then it should be easy. Make sure you have the right balance of protein and moisture in your hair. Too much protein in hair products can make your hair hard and too much moisture can make your hair limp and lifeless. Make sure you take care of your ends which means making sure your ends don't snag or rub up against clothing a lot. Drinking water and taking vitamins can also help your hair grow. There is a website with a lot more tips I'm a member here and the other members have helped me grow my hair longer and healthier. It is set up like a forum (open discussion) and there are a lot of tips and all you have to do is search for them. The website is http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/

I've tried this and it helps a bit. Comb your hair a lot and make sure there are no knots. This creates more weight on your scalp and the hair will grow faster. (Mine grew an inch a month when I tried this)

get it trimmed every few months! It sounds crazy but it gets rid of the dead tips and it will grow faster! TRUST ME! It worked especially if you get a bad haircut and its too short! Hope this helps :)
