First off, an HD antenna is really just a UHF antenna.. however, a UHF signal now is analog, and the new ones are digital.

But an HD antenna doesn't do diddly by itself. Your TV either has to have a digital ATSC tuner, OR you have to BUY an external HD/Digital tuner. About 150 is the cheapest. But if you can get a good signal, will be a bettter pic than cable, and FREE.

No cnn tho, or other extra channels.. just whatever is broadcast in your area.

Even with an old TV, you can get a great picture.. won't be High Def, but then most of the digital stations we WILL get won't be High Def anyway! Anyone who thinks that down the road the broadcast companies WON'T decide to have 3 digital Standard Def channels instead of one High Def channel is crazy.. they can sell MORE ads with 3 channels, and that is ok. STILL will be a better pic than analog or analog cable, and sat is digital with HUGE compression, so will be that also!

Yes and no! Yes if you are living in an area where the major networks are broadcasting over the air HD signals and your TV is able to output HD format then your HD antenna will allow you to receive and play HD programs. No if you are living in an area where your service is depended on cable feed or satellite feed then you will have to lease the HD receiver from the provider because they are the one who can send the HD signals to your home and their receiver can process this signal and allow you to view the programs in HD quality. Either way, your TV must be able to play the HD quality first.

You can buy HD recievers from stores such as Best Buy. If you want to save some money, check ebay for a dtc-100. It was made for direct tv, but you dont need a satellite dish to use it. (its the one I use).
As someone elce said, you only get your local stations like ABC, NBC etc.
But the quality rocks and its free!

As long as you have an HDTV you can. But even then you will only get local HD channels like ABC, NBC, FOX, etc.

yes, but you will only get the local broadcast over-the-air HD channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX). Not stuff like ESPN or HD Net.
