I'd like to suggest Virginia Beach, Va. For years my daughter took her boys there from the time the youngest was just a year old.

Attractions:

1. The Beach [end nearest the lower numbered streets on Atlantic Ave is the widest] Check out the Schooner Inn which has ground level mini-apts with full kitchens and a patio right off the beach]

2. The Virginia Marine Science Museum is wonderful! He would delight in watching the playful sea otters and other creatures of the 'deep'

3. There is a Motor Raceway and a Water Park [ adjacent to each other] not far from Atlantic Ave 'strip' [buses go there which you can catch near the hotels]...the wee ones can ride with Mommy in a race car and there are other neat rides too...the water park is a dream!

4. The shops and restaurants in Va. Beach are OFF the boardwalk and on the 'back' side of the hotels and easily walked so no vehicle is required.

5. The boardwalk is for walking; skating and cycling and you can even get a bike with a surrey and have him ride with you.

6. In the evenings there is free live music performers at various points along the boardwalk.

Va. Beach is kid friendly and very enjoyable!

Have fun whatever you decide :-)

Unlike what most posters are suggesting...I say steer clear of DisneyWorld!! Your son is young, won't be able to go on that many rides and will become very overwhelmed at such a place (wait for that vacation for a few years).
Go somewhere a bit more relaxing...the beach, or a city you want to check out. Don't plan too much of it out. Just go with the flow of the day. Heck, kids have fun at the local park! So you don't have to spend much money to entertain him, esp at this age.

I would recommend Walt Disney World. At his age, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom would be the parks to see. He could do some of the rides and see the animals. It is quite a place. I have been there nine times.

come 2 ireland! its quiet and beautiful and there are lots of activities youand your little boy could get involved with. go to board failte website find out whats on and where. you are really lucky i have five kids and envy that you can just take your boy away and spend some quality time with him, just the two of you. if i went it would be just the seven of us, a huge bill and a massive headache. love them all of course but never have time to focus on just one, lucky you. hope you both have a good time.

DisneyWorld is the best!
I know our family has always had a great time when we go!

We have also gone skiing at Snowy Range in WY where it is a smaller and more reasonable resort. We always had a great time there too! They have great little bunny slopes for the kids to learn on.

Wow!! Three years old!! Well, why don't you try a theme park. I'm sure they have rides and attractions for younger kids. You might find something you like as well. Be sure to take many pictures. Have fun!!
