Cats have some behaviors that are 'weird' by human standards, perfectly normal to them...such as transferred aggresion. They see another cat (or dog, squirrel, etc) outside their window, then attack a cat they live with, or their owner. Or, while being petted, they get over-stimulated & bite their owners hand. This is just how their brains are wired, and some act this way much more than others.

How to deal with it best: WATCH your cat - when you pet it, you will start to see signs that it is about to bite. Stop petting & move calmly away when the signs start & avoid the whole problem!

Don't feel stupid -- it really is a valid question. My cat had anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues and was actually prescribed Prozac (yes, real Prozac, just in a tiny dose) by my vet.

It really seemed to work for him. Take the little guy into the vet and explain how he's been acting in detail. If the vet decides it's right for him, she may prescribe something.

Good luck!

What you may think is "BIPOLAR" is just your cats temperament. All cats are different. Maybe yours just wants extra attention! Good Luck to you! If you read this article it has a good story on how cats help Bipolar people, but there is not any research on bipolar cats! http://bipolar.about.com/od/copingresources/a/joy_catsrescue1.htm

I'm not sure if that would be the technical name for it or if there is another name when it comes to animals but i think yes
animals have thoughts and feelings just like we do so it is only normal that some may experience the same type of mental illnesses as well. try talking to a vet and see if there is anything you can do to help your furry friend
good luck

That's a term applied to humans by psychiatrists and psycholigists and doesn't apply to cats.

You don't give any behavioral details about why you have concerns or are labeling your cat in this way so no one can know what you are really talking about.

Cats are just plain strange. They are psycho and unpredictable. Just love your cat for what it is cause you won,t ever find one that is "normal"

I think all cats are bi-polar at a minimum. Tri-polar and quadra-polar are the norms!
