Skip all pills and such. It's a scam to get you to waste money. Same thing goes for those expensive dog shampoos the vet recommends.
Bath your dog once a month using head and shoulders. Yes its for humans, but I am telling you it works. I have two labs, one black and one yellow and they swim in our pool everyday in the summer. Well the chlorine just dries their skin right up. So we bathe them using head and shoulders and not only do they smell so good, but their hair is soft smooth and their skin is not dry anymore. I've told all of my friends and they swear by it.
The doggie shampoos just have a strong odor to cover the dog stink. But Head and Shoulders is made for people with dry scalps, which is basically what your dog has.

Hope this helps

Call the vet and ask them. I put a tablespoon of canola oil in my dog's food each day, she has real dry skin too. You can also try oatmeal shampoo or that anti-itch spray you can get at pet supply stores.

First of all what type of food do you feed your animal? Are you using a premium dog food? Secondly how often do you wash your animal? A lot of dog owners overwash their animal. You should be only washing your animal every six to eight weeks.
