are there any dental hygienist or dental hygiene students that can tell me how long it took them to get into the dental hygienist program? or how long it took them overall to become a hygienist? thanks

Dental hygiene takes between 4 and 6 years.

You have to have at least 2 years of basics and then 2 years of hygiene school. You should know what field you want to work in.... pediatric, general, periodontics by this time.

There are not many schools and it is hard to be accepted. you have to have good grades and recommendations form a few dentists too.

It is a back breaking job and many dentists are jerks to work for! Some patients are also jerks, so be prepared this is not a walk in the park job!!!

i would say it takes between 4 and 6 years.
