Very interesting idea. When I am feeling punk with a cold or flu I frequently get hot and sour soup from the Chinese restaurant and eat that for a day. I think it does help me feel better.

With cat this is NOT a good idea. Anything containing onion and garlic can be VERY toxic for a cat and you will not get a canned or even home-made soup without that.

If you want to take a chicken and boil it up on the stove for several hours WITHOUT seasonings you will get a good broth which might appeal to your cat. There's no guarantee in that though. You can always make a chicken salad with the meat if she doesn't like the broth. Try the broth straight and then try it with a small amount of vinegar. It's the vinegar in the hot and sour soup which seems to help a human illness.

Get real, what is soup going to do for him. Call a vet and talk to them. It is a free call and at worst you pay for an office visit. If you can not afford that you probably don't need the cat. You may be able to call the local shelter and ask for some low-cost vets in the area.

Hi Carrey...when cats have a cold it's generally a result of an upper respiratory infection (URI), which needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian and respectively treated with antibiotics for secondary infections which the URI can cause. Please consider having your cat evaluated for URI to be treated. It isn't very expensive and this can save your kitty's life.

Chicken noodle soup contains high levels of sodium which can disturb the body's electrolyte balances in a cat. Many contain onion and garlic which causes Hemyolytic Heinz Body Anemia and this can be fatal to cats as well.

Probably not, although it probably wouldn't hurt either. A better idea would be to get to the vet. What seems like a cold could actually be something far worse. Like a serious respiratory infection that requires medication. Better to spend money on an office visit only to learn that nothing is wrong, than to wait too long and have your cat die from a fatal disease with cold-like symptoms.

No, dear! I think you already knew the answer to that. I would take your cat to the vet though. Especially if she is young. Kitty colds can develop into bad viruses very quickly and I wouldn't take the chance. If she is not eating though, I would give her some baby food. Only use the baby meats that are all natural. My cat is diabetic and I give him this before he gets his insulin because it is high in fat and low in carbs. If you look at the ingredients is should say...Beef( or Lamb, Chicken, Turkey, Ham) and broth or water. Nothing else. Good luck to you and your kitten!

That only applies to people, not cats. You need to get an antibiotic for your cat. See your vet. When your cat has a cold it affects their sense of smell, and they do not want to eat.

No.... Your cat needs to go to the Vet and get the proper medicine. Also if it is an indoor outdoor make sure it stays inside for now.

No, it needs antibiotics. Nice that you care so much about your cat to joke around about it, though :)
