There is a girl in the office next to mine and I have not been able to figure her out, she is very flirty one day and then cold the next, she has told me she had an office relationship before that didnt work but would like to hang out as friends and see where it goes from there but everytime I ask her to do something she always has an excuse, is she f'n with my head or just scared? I just find myself thinking about her all the time. We work together but also laugh together allot.

Maybe you don't know the whole story. She told you that she dated someone she worked with before, and it got ugly. Maybe she's scared that will happen again. And in a small office setting, could be disasterous. Not to say lose a friendship. Also, you might be reading into her reasons why she can't go out, or had to break plans. Haven't you had to break plans with her once or twice. Now, if you quit your job, then it might simplify things. My advice to you is to be patient, as I truely think she's not effin with your head, she is just shy and maybe a bit niave.

I believe there is a good chance that the flirtiness is just in her nature. There are alot of people that are like that. If that is the case, when she gets "cold," it could be a form of a defense where she thinks you may be getting too close when she really isnt sure she wants to. Work relationships are iffy at best because if they work great, but when they dont it makes things hell more times than not in the office.

The next time you ask her and she says no to you your next question should be "Are all these no's a hint I should not bother to ask anymore?" Don't wait for an answer you already have it. Move on and do the same when she flirts. We used to call these girls PT's but now I think the term is "mother dog".

It sounds like she's interested in you, but she's shy. She flirts with you one day then not the next. On the days she's cold towards you, she's probably just waiting for you to make a move so she can see if her flirting paid off.
