I wonder if the native Americans can possibly be part of the lost tribe of Israel, because they are dark like the Jews. They have many things in common with the Jews, like being rejected by society...what do you think?

The idea of a "Lost Tribe of Israel" comes from the Book of Mormons, which claims that some of the Israelites build a large raft, sailed to Central America and became the American Indians. This supposedly happened before the time of Ezra when the Israelites return to the land after the captivity.

The Bible, however, does not teach that. Rather if you read in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, you will find each of the 12 tribes listed as having returned.

Sorry, but according to the Bible, there is "lost tribe of Israel".

DNA and other studies show that the American Indians descended from Polynesian (South Pacific) origin, not Jewish or Middle Eastern.

Hello =)

That is an interesting question......

I think that is a logical view for a Mormon to take.

Anthropologically speaking, we know that this is not true.... Most Native Americans show a striking genetic resemblance to the people of Tibet and Mongolia...however::

There is some indication of "other" cultures reaching the Eastern shores of South America in ancient times. It is not totally impossible to think that the lost Tribe of Israel did not settle in what is now Brazil or Argentina. There certainly is evidence that Ethnic Africans made it to Argentina thousands of years ago, and now are widely credited with discovering the "New World".....

Namaste,

--Tom

I am not in any way a lost tribe from anywhere. that's those mormons' Idea and besides mormons are not very nice to us if it were true. we would be treated a lot better than we are now. I don't mean put on a pedistal and all just treated with respect and dignaty like a fellow human being

First, who says there is a "lost tribe of Israel"?

Today's Israelities do not know which tribe they belong to.

I think it is the Ethiopians, they are a majority Christian country but there are groups that still practice an ancient form of Judaism. They even claim to have the Ark of the Covenant housed in a church in Axium.
