Sometimes I think that instead of dealing with the stress of life, and the problems of life it would be easier to just never know. The happiness and all is great. Like one guy said: It didn't bother me a 1000 years before I was born, it won't bother me 1000 years after I'm dead. If you don't know your dead, then why is dying so bad?

You need to seek medical attention right away. Regardless of belief in an afterlife or not, it is not normal to say "I just want to die."

Please seek professional help.

If you want to die, regardless of your reasons, you could very well have an underlying disorder such as depression that could very easily be treated. It wouldn't hurt to talk to a therapist and let them know what's going on, then see what they say.

A lot of people don't believe in an afterlife but that's no reason to die. You're here for a reason, no matter what your belief s (or non beliefs) may be. It sounds like the stresses and pressures of your life are making it hard for you to see what your purpose is or anything positive so I really think you should get some kind of help for what you're feeling.

One of the most important things in life, as far as I'm concerned, is discovering our gifts and finding ways that we can share those gifts with others. Not only do we enrich our lives that way, but we enrich the lives of others too. Get some help and I fully believe that you will begin to find your purpose and life will be more positive for you.

Bob....Think about it. If you don't believe in an afterlife, why would you want to cease to exist? If nothing else, are you not curious about what will happen tomorrow and all the tomorrows that will follow in your natural life?

Personally, I would be mad as hell if I didn't get to see the Bears win the Superbowl this year. When that happens, I am sure there will be something else.

Besides, you just might have a purpose in this life. If you were to just vanish into thin air, the whole plan for the universe might go out of whack. Somebody, somewhere is counting on you.

Go find your purpose!

Remember, you don't just deal with the stresses of life--you also get the joys of life. Even if you're not feeling them right now, they'll come. It sounds silly, but I once had a book of "happy thoughts"--it listed things you should be glad for, like friends, flowers, springtime, music, etc. It always made me feel better whether I was down or not. And the ancient Greeks didn't believe in an afterlife, either--you just became a "shade." I'd rather be up here taking my chances on good things happening.

In my opinion everything you just stated is so right. They say I'm depressed because I want to die but I'm not. I just don't want to sit here and suffer. Why suffer right? Who gives a crap about happiness if just a small amount of happiness causes so much pain anyways? There is no afterlife, you're right (in my opinion). You're dead and gone, there's no feelings and you'll never even know your dead. That one guy was right. If we couldn't feel before we were born how can we believe there's feelings after we're dead. Now don't go kill yourself, but you'll die when life is ready to let you. When this life decides it's made you suffer enough you'll go and eerything'll be ok cuz there will be no feelings anymore. And Dying isn't bad. It's just sad because whoever's dead was probably loved and people will miss them. You're fine, not depressed or suicidal. Suicidal's when you start trying to kill yourself. It's not wrong...

I am sorry you do not believe in an afterlife. I just wonder why you are so certain. Is there no one you would miss if they died? Is there no one that has touched your life even if they did not know they had? You have touched peoples lives without even meeting them just by asking your question. Life is wonderful if for no other reason, than you never know what will happen. The will to survive is an instinct all living beings have. Wanting to die is not natural. That is a very big sign that something is wrong. Please get some help now, talk to a professional about it.

No thinking about this isnt wrong i bet that almost every human being in the world has thought about this possibility. You should just focus on life and having fun, living to the fullest. Its a good sign that u r not depressed, but not believing in an after life should not make u think about death more than usual.

Life is full of stress and obstacles, but if u see it in the way that everytime u overcome an obstacle you are a step closer to the success of living a great life.

You need to focus more on your future.

I get what you're saying. I've been there many times just this week. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just too lazy to live.

The thing is, I think we create our own realities, and I've been creating a pretty crappy one for myself, what about you? I set myself up to feel this way.

I wouldn't suggest, like many of these people, to be afraid of death, to feel obliged to live. But, seriously, isn't there something on this planet you'd still like to do, or see? There's no hurry on dying, it's going to happen. And if there's no afterlife then there will be no punishment for whatever experience you had, so why worry what takes place here. Just try to experience something; I think that's what life is about.

Since you don't believe in an afterlife, that means you won't get any do overs. This is your only life. Your only chance to make something worthwhile out of your life. Wouldn't it be a pity to waste it? Begin by getting out of the dumps. You're depressed. Get help. Go to a doctor for treatment for depression. Accentuate the positive.

You may be disappointed about life and it is certainly not depression but rather a self discovery. One man which I don’t want to mention who was disappointed like you inveted a philosophy thousands of years ago. It is still popular around the world. I think you are normal.
