Do not send your dog to any obedience school because it doesn't really work. You must take your dog to obedience classes, this way you will learn how to correct your dog and your dog will learn to respect you. 11 months is a great age. Stay away from places like petsmart or petco because they really do not know what they are doing and before you randomly pick a class you should go to a class or two and watch the class. Make sure you agree with the methods and you are comfortable with the instructor.

ASAP! It's never too early to begin spending lots of time working with your pup. Watch the dog and make sure you're working with all positive methods so that they won't become overwhelmed with the work. Even small pups can go to class and learn how to work for treats. The earlier you start the better and you may find out that you love working with your dog and move on to other areas, like competing in obedience or rally or agility.

The sooner the better. That doesn't mean that older dogs won't do well in obedience classes. I foster rescue dogs from our local animal care center and I've taken many animals over the age of 5 to obedience classes and they've all done well. It's you that will make or break your dogs training habits, not the dog.

Some places offer classes as early as 10 weeks. Check with your local kennel club or pet store to see what is available in your area. The training classes are really more about teaching the owner how to train the pet. Our puppy training classes have been working out wonderfully. We (me and hubby) are learning a lot and we are begining to see a difference in the way our puppy responds to us. Good luck to you.

Right now! This would be a great time to get your dog trained well. He should know some of the basics going in, if not, the teachers will teach you to teach your dog. Fantastic time to have fun and play with your pup. Good luck, enjoy!

as soon as you are able to take it away from its mother. the sooner the better, dogs aren't like children in this regard...rather, their mother is teaches them where not to go to the bathroom and things like that from the very moment they are born. its best to continue this right when you get your puppy so that the dog establishes you as the leader and looks to you for the boundaries of its social standing. however dogs live in the NOW so starting at 11 months will work out ok too.

You actually could have started 6-7 months ago - The earlier the better. Don't only go to Beginners class, but stick with the program through intermediate and advanced.

Training is the best thing you can do for your dog and yourself.

puppy training can start at 16 weeks ,although some places will not take them before puppy has had all it`s injections . We started training our girl at home before embarking on puppy classes. A well trained dog is a happy dog and a pleasure to own

You should enroll yourself and your dog in a good training school now....he is already a little old to start training but is still trainable....it takes a lot of patience and dedication on your part...they don't learn in a minute...have fun!!!!

Do it now. And ideally, you should go to classes with him/her. You'll understand better what to do to control the dog, and it will help in bonding you together. Also, do some research before choosing the right course. Someone who understands your breed would be ideal.
